I have a 03 xb9s, with K&N & 12 airbox, other than that it's stock. I am not planning to add a Race ECM or new Pipe. It's time to replace the plugs...Are their any advantages or disadvantages to running a hotter, high performance spark plug. Are there any recommendations other than the stock HD plug? |

If your plug is not fouling, do not go hotter, it will do nothing for performance, just increase the risk for engine damage. If it is tan or lighter leave the heat range alone. Plugs with different electrodes, like the iridium, would actually be more likely to change your performance. |

Do a Badweb search for NGK stock replacements and iridium part numbers, there is a lot of info, including theories about performance. |

I've got the buell pro series plugs and would recommend them. Careful with different heat ranges. If you don't have any pinging or other pre ignition/detonation issues, the stock heat range is fine. |

I'm running the pro series plugs. No complaints here. I would't use the stock (non-pro series) plugs in my lawnmower they were so cheap. |

If my bike is running good with the stock plugs, would there be any benefit to using NGK iridiums? |

The main benefit to iridiums and platinums is that they maintain thermal integrity along with the theory that those will last longer. But honestly, I'm still changing my plugs at regular intervals without extending the mileage. |
