A4: glad you had a good ride. They say many more riders are killed on the Skyway than at Deal's Gap. The long sweepers lure people into getting over their heads. Sounds like you handled it without a problem though. It is a very cool road, but take your own drinks/food if you plan on stopping. The couple of rest stops that they have don't have running water. Heads up for anyone headed to the Gap any time soon. http://www.tailofthedragon.com reported a slew of accidents at Deal's Gap this weekend (no fatalities IIRC) so expect heavy law enforcement for a while. |

Yea..... I went with the 47". I was hoping on the 52" but when I got the 47" in the room, there was no way the bigger one would have fit. |

They say many more riders are killed on the Skyway than at Deal's Gap. The long sweepers lure people into getting over their heads. I can totally see that. There are quite a few corners that are pretty tight coming around a ridge here and there. I talked to a local who said they used to try to enforce the speed limit on the Skyway but the gas for the patrol cars was more expensive than the revenue they were bringing in on tickets so they just 'clean up messes' now. Whodom- I did take a sandwich with me and it worked out well. But I didn't take a drink so I was glad to see the little hamburger stand at the entrance on the TN side cuz you're right, there are NO facilities on the Skyway. At the hamburger stand they put up a good sized covered picnic area for Motorcyclists and a little and I mean little paved motorcycle parking. It's really nice. |

Did any of you hear about this???? Two motorcycle riders killed in DeKalb crash STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS Published on: 04/18/05 Two motorcyclists were killed late Sunday when their bikes collided with a car on a south DeKalb County interstate. The 11 p.m. crash shut down the eastbound lanes of I-285 near Flat Shoals Road for several hours. Witnesses told police that a group of speeding motorcycle riders were driving erratically on the interstate before the accident occurred. The two riders involved in the crash were passing between two cars when they apparently collided with one of the cars, according to DeKalb police. One of the cyclists died at the the scene, while the other was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital. Their names have not been released. It was said in other news reports that they were riding with a group of riders at over 100mph. Some were popping wheelies and lane splitting. I guess when the guys went down NONE of the other bikes even stopped - NOT COOL |

SOUNDS BETTER IN THE SONG When I saw her standing there, with her bright eyes and shining hair, she was looking back at me. Some are meant to sing, some are meant to talk and some aren’t meant to say a thing. But when she opened up her mouth and that sweet voice came out I lost track of my own name. Now she’s found herself, and I lost mine and I’m just another guy who can’t give her anything. Well the drifter, He holds on to his youth just like it was money in the bank. And “Lord knows, I can’t change” sounds better in the song than it does with hell to pay. I might as well of slipped that ring on your finger from a window of a van as it drove away. Now she’s found herself, and I lost mine and I’m just another guy who can’t give her anything. Dreams are given to you when you’re young enough to dream them before they can do you any harm. They don’t start to hurt, until you try to hold on to them after seeing how they really are. She used to dream them with me, every single crazy one, until they started hurting her too, now she’s got some of her own and outgrowing me, might be the best thing for her she’s ever done. A light that shines as bright as hers can’t be kept in the shadows for too long. A heart that wants to live and a soul that wants to give can’t just sit at home alone. Lord, she’s give me everything and never wanted anything I couldn’t give. Just what was inside of me. And now she’s found herself, and I lost mine and I’m just another guy who can’t give her anything. |

Greg at Cycle Gear told Shred that they're full sized street bikes. It being the 'opening night' it's supposed to be a good show. (Message edited by along4theride on April 19, 2005) |

A4TR, Thanks. I wish it performed like it sounds. I'm in TFI woe land it looks to be. This newbie has some things to learn about tuning this beast. No worries yet though. I'm am excited about the challenge. Of course I am running the initial settings that they tell you to start from. NOT. Doesn't work!! K and N 12 air box (standard on the City) Stock ECM Special Ops pipe (and fender eliminator .. Odie rocks) TFI We must have just missed each other because when I picked it up the engine was still hot from the ride John took. I am slowly getting to know everyone. Hope we see each other soon so I can put a face with the name. Later, D |

Glitch: I know you're doin' the 3% thing in the picture there with your lady of no talking back... but, you do know that is the "two in the pink one in the stick" hand signal. two guys actually got in trouble a year or two ago for starting that little thing. funny. I prefer "two in the coo, one in the flue and a thumb on the drum ". It looks like your thumb is on it's way. (flue: 1 P Pronunciation Key (fl) n. A pipe, tube, or channel for conveying hot air, gas, steam, or smoke, as from a generation source to the open air. flue Does her ear smell like latex? (Message edited by torqer on April 20, 2005) |
