Wow! Wish I can have attended. I would have had him sign somewhere hidden on the frame. Does Eric B. live around NY? Would be nice to setup more of these events with him showing up. (Message edited by firewhirl on April 18, 2005) |

Got to meet the man at last, what a great down to earth guy he is, he signed my shirt and BRAG map book. I will be getting the shirt framed for posterity. The ride into the city was hot and steamy , sitting on the toll plaza at the Holland tunnel is no fun in 75-80 degrees. I also gave the show a miss , as I have been before and I wasn't too impressed the last time. It was good to meet up with and put faces and handshakes to names --Yeags, Got1, Arve, LoneXb, Jersey and last but not least Mr Canfield. |

Just plain fun. You'll have to work hard to ante up a better description than that for what happened yesterday at Liberty Harley-Davidson / Buell in Rahway, NJ. The first time Erik and I got together with Buell owners, most the Buell owners in the world were present and we could all ride in the same car to lunch. If you think you had a great time at Liberty yesterday you should have listened to Erik chattering as we did the sightseeing gig Sunday afternoon. Those of you who met him can attest that the enthusiasm is genuine. I can't put my finger on why, but after doing this for 20 years; it just gets more fun, not less! To recap for those of you sleeping at the keyboard.....this grew out of high-level command orders from SCU's (Spousal Command Units) that we were to "get a life", "get cultured" and "do something other than motorcycling for one day". Perish, we winked at each other, the thought. It's easy to outsmart these gals and I'll tell ya how. You take them to a nice dinner, buy wine that only Henrik would understand and only Paul Rogers would pay for and encourage them to drink it. Take them to a Broadway Show, keep them out way later than you should, then arrange a secret meeting in the wee hours to go play motorcycles and mysteriously appear about the time the SCU's are waking. We didn't make 20 years in motorcycling being stupid. We'll one of us didn't. I've sent some of you e-mails simply saying "thank you", others I owe e-mails, to all I owe thanks. You, doubtless, by now have figured out that no one enjoys this more than Erik. I've told you before that to The Elves each bike is like a kid sent off to college, each Buell is a product that started as a dream, evolved to an idea and represents the hard work and talent of people who love motorcycles just as much as each of us. Some of you have met some of The Elves. Behind each and every Buell are the folks like Pretap, Bruce, April, Mike, Abe, Jon and Laurie. Each Buell is the evidence of what these talented folks can do, each Buell is, in itself, a "signature of sorts". Erik represents a bunch of folks in love with what they do. This weekend started out as an "unofficial, hey we'll just drop by for a few minutes" and grew into something over 100 Buells on a gorgeous spring day in New York City. Passion, more than pollen, was in the air on Sunday. Thanks go out to Phil Evon (see photos below) who engineered the entire effort and to the Tom, Lucy and Michelle at Liberty Harley-Davidson / Buell. By the way, yesterday drove home a good point to me. In order for us to be pounding our chest for dealer support, it's essential that we support the dealers. I took a minute to slip in yesterday, pick up a new Buell shirt (mine are a bit frayed on the edges) and some polish to try on the City{X}. If you get a chance, don't forget to run Phil down, he's got some killer Buell shirts, jackets, helmets, leathers and performance accessories right smack dab all over his showroom floor. Pretty much lays to rest many of the concerns we've heard. Again, thanks to all for a most wonderful time and we're already plotting to buy tickets and another bottle of wine. Most of all, thank you. Court Ooopps..did I say 10 or 12 Buells? Gentleman Jon Our Host - Phil Evon - AWESOME stock of Buell Drool! Phil and his killer City Cross Signed, sealed and ready for Battle! Why's this XB owner smiling? Check out his serial number? "Never buy the first of anything?" Hasn't slowed him down! Just me? or does it look like Erik is about to leave with someone's CityX? Steve Ford rode this awesome M2 (one of the BEST motorcycles ever made and I can prove it) in from Pennsylvania Gratuitous Sight Seeing Photo from New York City |

Yeah, well . . . face it. I'm a better host that pair of "public eyeballs". I am still reeling over the "Who's Smokey Robinson?" comment. That cut to the quick. I'll recover, but riding on Sunday was just the start of a protracted program of therapy it will take to make me normal. See you soon.....I have some new driving tricks to show you. Court |

Dudes: Egads...a paltry 2 of the 17 Badweb calendars I bought yesterday sold! Look...now I am on the hook for these. Wanna make a deal? Get ahold of Phil (NJBuell @ 732-381-2400), you buy a calender AND a t-shirt and leave your address, they'll both arrive at your place autographed. You square with Phil, I'll go over next Saturday, collect the orders and you'll get them next week. Try to find that deal anywhere? You guys gotta get me outta hot water. It's a win-win deal! Court |

Gus: The calendar is gonna set you back $20. Shirts, I'm guessing will be in the $20-$25 range for a "signable" type t-shirt. Bottom line is, for something like $45 (I'll handle the transport and moving your stuff around) you will have:
- a WAY cool autographed calendar!
- a WAY cool autographed shirt
- Have supported the Buell Racing Contingency Fund (what I like to call the "World's Premiere Owner Back Racing Contingency Fund"
- Have supported the dealers effort to make certain tons of stuff was in stock for us.
- Have saved my wife from having calenders hung all over the house!
Life, I'm almost certain, gets no better! Court P.S. - I bought a very cool all black, with a Buell logo on the sleeve, polo style shirt yesterday for $40. I noticed when I first wore it that I felt younger, but last night folks started commenting that it made me look better. Has Buell inventeed the "wonder shirt"? Could be. I spotted 4 of you who are absolute candidates for this shirt! |
