I have broken the front shift lever on my S2T. This is the lever that attaches to the shifter shaft, where it comes out of the primary cover. I was expanding it slightly to remove it from the shaft, when the clamp broke in half. I have been having issues with the angle of the shifter.I run my "T" style peg mounts inverted 180 degrees, raising the pegs around 1.5".This puts the shifter at a lower angle than the pegs. This was not a problem until I bought a new pair of boots. The new boots will not articulate down far enough to get under the shift peg. I have been following the thread disscusing extending the shift rod or fabricating a new rod to correct this problem. But thought I would move the front shift lever slightly when it broke. I could replace the broken shift lever Buell part #33315-95Y.But I would still have the same problem.I like the Banke and Storz replacments, but don't want to take out a second mortgage on the house. Storz, http://www.storzperf.com/ has a reverse pattern shifter.Part #HD083.20 for $89.50.This would allow me to set the shifter to whatever angle I want. What do you guys think?Suggestions,options..... Thanks Mike |

Mike, I had the same problem too, I broke the shift shaft lever on my M2. They're the same as the stock Sportster shifter and cost $42 bucks brand new. Screamin' Eagle also sells a billet Sportster shifter that looks pretty good for $80. The billet shifter probably won't break as easily as the chrome stock one. I'd be careful altering the the angle of the lever on the shift shaft. If you move it by one tooth, you lose enough leverage to affect the shifting action. I've been through this! |

The current shift lever that all Sportsters with mid-mounted pegs use (not the forward mounts). Buell used the stock Sportster shift lever as the the shift shaft lever until 2001. |
