Okay I may be wrong in how i spelled it(FDO, ODF...) but it is supposed to be used the same way as a TFI. It is run in harleys and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this contraption. A mechanic told me about it after test riding my bike. He said it would act just like a TFI unit. And some harley dudes he knows use them. So I was just wondering if this "DFO" thing would work on a buell? If so I'll give it a test (my mechanic has one he'll sell to me dirt cheap) and I'll let you guys know how it works. |

Yeah it will fit, but your engine light will be on all the time. is it the DFO that plugs in like the TFi (little harness that piggybacks the injectors) or is it the one that wired into the haness....if its that one dont get it, they are junk!! also the Screamin Eagle Race Fueler will fit on your XB and agian the engine light will be in all the time. |

It's the one where you cut the wires to the ecm and solder them back onto the DFO. |

I don't know about the part, I'm running a TFI in my bike, but would the engine light come on with the part in question if you had a race ecm? |

If the DFO and/or the TFI on an XB is such a BFD, shouldn't we keep it on the QT? Because if it leaks to the VC, it could become an MIA and we'd all be put on KP. (w/apologies to Robin Williams...) (Message edited by whodom on April 17, 2005) |

FYI, the simple Techlusion DFO's work great on the X1 and older FI Buells. Heck, I have one and swear by it. Not to mention it was a more affordable and provided less problems than the Power Commander of the day. Techlusion private labeled them for a number of companies including Rev Tech and perhaps even Harley. The only thing they did was enable you do dial out the lean spots caused by modified intake and exhaust components on a dyno. Of interest my DFO caused surging with the OEM ECM and modified intake and exhaust, but works fantastic once I added the Race ECM to the list. Incidentally, the DFO should be checked/adjusted via a dyno tune every few years due to engine and component wear as well as any time you change to a different intake or exhaust component. At the two year mark (12.0K miles), I had another dyno tune and had to richen the mixture a little more compliments of engine wear and probably the packing wearing out on my Vance Hines can. Apparently they do not work with the XB series and Techlusion (now Dubeck?) had to develop a new more interactive version for the newer bikes. Interesting how what is good on an older bike is junk on the newer ones, eh? Just don't forget to put it back on the Dyno periodically. The engine you save, may be your own. |
