I talked to Danny, Glendales dyno guy. He pretty much said bring it down anytime. So, I'll get it down there within the week and we'll see what happens. Cheaper than Bartels & they'll do the same thing: adjust carb, jets & timing curve. FYI: not running anything real special other than XB head, 10.5:1 piston,XB cams, SE ignition & the obligatory Pro Series air cleaner & exhaust. Thanks again for your help. |

Very cool, Give us a heads up and maybe we can meet down there. I'm curious to see how your setup does. |

Matty - keep in mind the doc's haven't cleared me to drive yet so I'm confined to quarters for at least another week (insert red-faced anti-smiley here) - otherwise I'd come down just for something to do. Can do weekends though (begging Sunny to drive) |

Gearheaderiko... I can walk home from Bartels...but I always rode the bus home from Glendale. I think U will be very happy with their work. Eric is excellent at Glendale. When he shipped out to war, my bike just waited for his return. As they told me once at Bartel's, "they are in Marina del Rey". I guess they call that the "Marina" mark up! |

Dang Scott, Your S3 look an awful lot like an Aprillia in your profile pic =) It's good to hear from you again! Hope things are well. Slaughter, We can tow you behind my S3 - I just need some rope. Or I can strap you to the trailer. Either way works for me! Check out this photo from the BRAG gals. It's Mario, our general manager, showing us a 3/4 view of the XB series Jardine muffler and how it looks with 98 horses running through it. That's his daily driver AND race bike. Nuts! And of course, I found this picture of Steve and I back in 1980 or so. No we aren't posing - we always look this cool.

Awwww geez... I'll have to miss the dyno run. Can't get a ride to the train tomorrow. I'll getta report. The more I think about it, the more It looks like I'm gonna do an XB/Blast hybrid as a second racebike. |

Gearheaderiko - it's still under discussion. Budget is zero after my accident and a bad tax season. Might be able to hustle a motor but depending on schedule and budget, somebody else may have to ride it. I don't think I'll be on a bike for a couple months or more yet. |

Gearhead, How'd the Blast do? Good? Bad? I stopped in and saw the bike on the dyno - Danny and Paul were fidling with the jets. |

Okay Slaughter, What Happened to you? (If the whole explanation is on Badweb just direct me there and I'll read). Is this the same accident on the racetrack coming into turn 8 (9?) or something else? PS to anyone interested-I got my dyno today & if I can find a way to post it, I will, but it will be at the thumper side. Also, for bringing in the cheapest bike Buell/HD makes and not even buying it from Glendale, Glendale HD treated me like a king today. You'd have thought I bought 10 Road kings from them! Good people. |

Sorry I missed you matty, I was around somewhere. As good as a Blast can do I guess, 28ftlbs torque & 33hp at the rear wheel(stock is 27/30 at the crank). It still has a rich condition between 4000-5000rpm even after changing mains from 175 to 165. Next will be to try a different exhaust and a lighter tire (assuming the heavier tire eats up hp on the dyno). Its now where it should be coming from the factory! I'll be more than happy to fax you the run sheet. |

That ain't bad at all for a Blast! There's still a lot more hiding in there though, but you are at the point where it's really hard to find WHERE it is hiding. |

Gearhead, Naawww - this crash was in Turn 1 in February's race. Haven't really done a total description of what the damages were on Badweb. Here's the tally (6 cracked/broken): Broken L. ankle (talus) Broken L. collarbone 2 cracked vertebra - C8 and T1 with 2 adjoining ribs cracked Subdural hematoma - Grade 3 concussion Tomorrow I see my own orthopedic surgeon, the following Friday I see my own neurologist. I can't say enough bad about Antelope Valley Hospital's available/on-call staff. That Turn 9 thing last October was just an inconvenience - bike was on the track the next day. (after changing bent fork, replacing right side controls and replacing bent front wheel) (Message edited by slaughter on March 31, 2005) |

Wow! They never told me what grade my concussion was. I was very dizzy in the beginning (still a little) and I lost the ability to spell (better now, but not normal). I gather from your previous posts that you're not done racing yet! Good luck on the recovery. |

Nope - not done racing. See the ortho surgeon again today for followup, neurologist a week from today. I was knocked out for 2-3 minutes and don't remember much from before starting my engine until coming to as they were loading me into the ambulance. Still don't remember much for the first 2-3 hours after the crash even though I was responding to questions and such according to Sunny (who rode in the ambulance with me to the ER and stayed in ICU for the first few hours til it was obvious that I wasn't going to need surgery) Head injuries are a weird thing. I've been knocked out before momentarily but this was a major deal. |

What sucks about the not remembering part is you cant learn from your mistakes. They can tell you what happened, but its not the same as what you feel on the bike and knowing what you did to try and correct it. Like you, I'll never know what happened and if there was anything I could/should have done different. |

Yeah - I talked to Johnny who followed me through the turn and thinks he actually hit my helmet (I think I got hit by my own wheel but either way...) and he said a bunch of things about the sliding on the exit of the turn before the bike hooked up and launched me - but not remembering - you're right, there's nothing that can be learned. Except keeping the speed down on cold tires!!! |

The 2nd SCAB (Southern California Area Buellers) gathering of the year is this Thursday Night (April 7th), 7:30 PM. It will be held at the same place as the last gathering, at Knowlwoods, located on Imperial at La Palma. This location is just a few miles further east on the 91 from the Press Box, the old SCAB meeting place. Coming from the east or the west, use the 91 Freeway and exit at Imperial. Go north on Imperial to the second light, which is La Palma. Turn left on La Palma and take the first driveway. Knowlwoods is up on the right....look for the bikes, a lot of different riders meet there. See you there! Al |

Thursday Bike Night: I live in Tujunga now. There's a nice little drive through coffee place called the Coffee Stop that's trying to get off the ground. Coffee's good. People are better. They've been talking about doing a Bike Night for a while and now they've posted it on their sign. Thursday Nights. Coffee Stop 7937 Foothill Blvd (between Oro Vista and Mount Gleason) Sunland, Ca 91040 Click here for map. -Saro |

AL-Is there an actual 'meeting' or is it just a gathering of riders for a meal? I was there tonight (yellow Blast), but couldn't stay long. I noticed the Buells were outnumbered about 4 to 1 ? |

Adding to Matty's note above, Sunny and I are hauling our BBQ out to the track and will be firing it up on Saturday afternoon/evening so if anybody wanted to, you could bring some bbq-able stuff - or run up to Albertson's (about 6 miles up the road) to grab some burgers, dogs, chicken or steaks. |

Erik Buell will be coming to our May races at Willow Springs Raceway - seems we've gotten their attention being the only BRAG club with so many active Buell racers. In May a few of the group will be transitioning to expert and I'll still be bitching about not racing yet . Race date: May 15th We'll have our usual group BBQ running so if anybody else shows up, just bring your own animal flesh to char. There's an Albertson's up the road from the track entrance a few miles if you don't wanna carry a dead carcass strapped to your handlebars all the way to Willow. No reservations required! Hope to see some new faces - and if you haven't yet met Erik, he's really an approachable guy. |
