I mentioned here about a month ago that my local Autozone had stopped carrying Mobil-1 V-twin 20W-50 AFTER I had firmly committed to running this oil in my Buell and had used it for my first oil change. Mobil-1's site still showed all the local Autozones as having it in stock, whereas Autozone's website now showed it as a "special order" product. I called a couple of other local Autozones and personally looked in a couple of others; none stocked it any longer. I e-mailed both companies at the time and explained my problem. Autozone responded that they would look into it; Mobil-1 said "call us and we'll tell you where to find it". A couple of days ago, I was looking for something else on Autozone's website and checked on the oil again just for the heck of it. It was again listed as "in stock". Stopped by the local store on the way home to pick up a quart of oil for my truck, and there's Mobil-1 V-twin 20W-50, back on the shelf. I don't know if all Autozone's are stocking it again, but at least the one nearest me is. (Message edited by whodom on April 14, 2005) |

Fullpower- Well no, but I did tell it I was serious about it. Actually, I researched the dog crap out of oils, checked to see what was readily available (i.e.- something I could buy when I was 500 miles out of town and down 1/2 quart) and then chose Mobil-1 based on that. I guess I'm one of those guys that was raised to pick an oil and stick with it. My Dad's generation thought that was gospel (and he's the one that taught me about changing oil). I used Syn3 on my last change, but I really hated to do it after all the disinformation Harley put out about synthetics until THEY came out with one. |

How much was the Mobil 1 compared to the $8.49 a quart Syn3? |

$7.99 I believe. The new version of Mobil-1 auto 15W-50 (Extended Performance) is up to about $6 a quart now. (Message edited by whodom on April 15, 2005) |

Is there "Mobil1 20w50" and "Mobil1 20w50 Vtwin"? Can I use either one? I just called my local Autozone and they said they didn't have specifically Vtwin Mobil1 20w50. |

V-Twin 20w50 is a specific blend to meet the requirements listed in the manuals for HD products. I have not seen M1 20w50 in any other bottle/formulation. I have seen the M1 in 15w50 "Redcap" which several Badwebbers are using in the engines. |

2000m2: I think Mobil makes a conventional (non-synthetic) 20W-50. Wycked: Mobil has dropped the "Redcap" 15W-50 and replaced it with a new "Extended Performance" version that has a yellow cap. You may still find Redcap on the shelf, but not for much longer. |

not worried about it as I don't buy it, but I will update my "in case of" list |

Turns out it was the Vtwin 20w50 fully synthetic. Wasn't on the shelf though, had to ask for it, they keep in back somewhere. |

There is no M1 Synthetic 20-50 other than the MC oil. Mobil used to make an auto one years back if I recall correctly. Yes, Redcaps days are numbered but I will buy the new 15-50 for the XB. |

Just got a half case of the new stuff readily available at Pep Boys and they do have 15-50 just like the red cap... Only a little over $5 when bought in the box of six or more. |

I went in to my local AutoZone a couple of weeks ago and they said they couldn't even order the v-twin oil anymore. They said the 'larger' stores are still carrying it. They did have a couple of quarts left in back I bought. So from what they told me the larger stores with more display room will still sell it but the smaller stores won't... AutoZones that is...
