Ok, I use Sun Pass at the toll booths so I don't have to stop and pay. It seems that it's been hit or miss with them. Just this night I was going through one and was holding up the transponder for the Sun Pass and it didn't work. Do these booths work by detecting our vehicles before sending out the signal for the transponders or what? Was wondering if any of you guys have had the same problems. | ||

Well living in a state infested with toll boths (NJ), I have had EZ pass (probable same as sun) transponders go bad, its no big deal here in NJ just get a new one, u can go thru the EZ pass tolls without showing the tag, they have ur plate numbers on file so if the tag doesnt read they just look up the plate and just charge u the toll, no biggie. Since I've registered my bike I just ride thru no tag or nothing, when I check my account I see they deduct the tolls I "blew" If u havent gotten a letter to pay don't worry, if u haveur bike registered with that toll tag then its no big deal. | ||

similar difficulties here in the Land of Lincoln -- have had tool booth attendants blame high heat, high humidity, the lack of a windshield between the transponder and the receiver -- proving beyond all doubt the lack or stringent technological screen of TOllway Authority Employees I just ride on through, and figure if the got a beef, they'll contact me (trying actually communicating witht eh Tollway trolls once -- a most unsatisfying experience) | ||

Cataract2, I had the same issue with an easy pass in NY. It wouldn't read, then it would yada yada. I decided trying to find the tag with one hand and hold it while riding thru a toolbooth was borderline suicidial behaviour, so I just threw it in a pocket of the tank bag where I thought it wouldn't work. Low and behold it works like a champ. Its in the forward pocket of the Amigo (tank) bag on my X1. The tag is vertical in the pocket. haven't had a "call ezpass" light since. So I'm thinking the closer you can get it vertical, the more likely it is to work. Previously I had always mounted it flat (top of the gas cap or map pocket of tank bag. I'd try putting it in a coat pocket and see what happens. Good luck | ||

My roomate had an EZ pass and he would take it out of his pocket everytime he went through until he dropped it trying to put it back into his pocket... Last summer when I was going into Canada, I was told to shut off my engine because my bike was too loud at the customs stop...they told me the same thing when I was coming back...  ...that is what I thought of when I saw the toll booth subject line.
