Coyotes, rabbits, an occasional snake (Vulture Mine Rd. Wickenburg) didn't stop to see what it was. Cruising down Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach I saw a rare Double Breasted Boobie sitting in the sand near Life Guard tower 17. |

Closest call: Rural Idaho, fall 1990. Pheasant flushed from the side of the road just ahead of me. All I had time to do was duck. He clipped the back of my helmet as my chin banged against the tank. At 60mph, I didn't get scared until about 20 seconds later until I caught my breath and had to pull over the adrenalin had me shaking so bad. |

plenty of deer, racoons, horses, and the ocassional cow, lol. put my yzf up for sale, guy called and bought it over the phone. so ofcourse while he was on the way to pick it up i had to take it out for one last run. did a few wheelies, then headed out of town to top her out one more time. well needless to say i topped her out just over 160 right as a huge crow swooped down right infront of me. THAT SUCKED! it destroyed the windscreen leaving about a foot and a half hole in the front end and i was blood and guts from my waist up. all it left behind was a few feathers and its feet sticking out the front. oh and the chunk of bone sticking out of my nose ya my wife at the time was very happy with the way i looked when i got home..... or not, lol. best part was the guy still bought it and didn't even really care. must be nice.... |

Ok I wasn't on a bike but you might like this.In Iraq I was a .50 cal gunner on top of a 2 1/2 ton truck going about 55 to 60. I took a big A$$ pigieon to my kevelar helmet and the side of my face. It knocked the crap out of me. After it hit me I turned back and saw it rolling down the road and watched as the truck behind me ran it over. The truck behind me said all they saw was an explosion of feathers. ( sorry my only animal story.) |

I was cruising along about 80kmh (50mph) when I encountered a gopher standing on the center line. I don't know what came over me, but I reached out with my left foot and gave him a kick in the behind. Sent him flying like an NFL kick off. Upon reaching the next intersection, the car that had been following pulled up beside me. The male driver was laughing his head off and giving me a thumbs up, his female companion looked horrified with tears in her eyes. Score me one bad mark for motorcyclist image. |

Beavers and camel toes. I really did pass a beaver the other day, the road was next to a creek. |

Can't say that I've ever seen one while riding but I have seen some Porcupines in my area. That wouldn't be a good one to run over or kick for Roadrages sake. |

Lots of deer,(I hit one once on my old VMAX not good, Broken Ankle etc...)Bear,Moose,Timberwolves,Porcupines,skunks,Fox,an occasional Pine Marten or Mink. The Bear believe it or not was a Momma Bear with two Cubs right in the middle of an intersection, close to downtown Duluth. Moose are scary because they are huge and if you hit one of those on a bike I don't think the chances of survival would be all that great. I personally think the ones that scare the crap out of me are the Wolves, I remember one instance I was riding down from Ely, MN to Finland,MN with Steph and right in the middle of highway 1 (very desolate area, especially at night) was a pack of wolves in no particular hurry to get out of the road. what made it even more spooky there was a layer of fog about a foot of the ground where we ran into the group I slowed way down, when we looked back(Poof) the all vanished in a split second. We were both having thoughts of old Transylvania movies. It was cool and Spooky at the same time. I know we were in no danger but it was still very spooky at 2A.M out in the middle of nowhere.for some odd reason we felt the need to pick up the pace and get home fast. SPOOKY night.Oh yeah no chit there was also a Full moon out that night. (Message edited by TEAM on April 13, 2005) |

Nearly tagged a blind kid who was wearing all black one night. He went out partying with his buddies, and they got pissed and dumped him on the side of the street near the university. He heard me and ran out into the street. Damn near clipped him as his black outfit was nearly invisible. University police got him a ride home. |

an angry Havalina (wild pig) on my way home from work at 10:30 the last time I had my night shift...think 175lbs of bad attitude. Makes me glad I am not in areas where they have Razorback. |

Had a nice dust print of a dove on my flyscreen. Hit it running around 75. I saw the birds by the side of the road and thought...oh f...! Sure enough, POOF! Pillow stuffing! |
