You gotta remember that a lot of Harley's are high dollar yuppie machines, ridden by dr's and lawyers and such and that FLXTHC is their first bike. They just don't know about the wave. Or they're too self absorbed to be bothered with the likes of you. Or, they've been riding a while that day and their eyeballs are vibrating to rapidly to distinguish another bike. Ok, I'm done making excuses for those stuck up fat bastahds. Keep waving though. They're not all like that. | ||

I try to wave at everyone even if their on a scooter. The way I look at it is if your willing to take the risk on the rode with the cagers your good in my book. | ||

Don't take it too personally, I don't see Harley guys waving to each other. I'm more likely to get a sportbike rider or a Beemer rider to wave at me on my Lightning. | ||

I will usually wave first and keep my hand out if they dont return the courtesy they get the finger until they pass. | ||

I'm with Scitz on this one, I wave to anyone battling the cagers on two wheels. On my last bike (Honda F4i) I got attitude from Goldwing to HDs, pretty sad to be pegged as a moron 'cause I was on a sportbike. curious to see how this summer is on the XB. I notice that early in the day more people seem to wave, by the end of day a lot less people seem to wave, when I go to a bike rally you wave to the first 500 bikes and the next 4000 you seem to not really want to wave. I would say it depends on the day for how many people will wave. I admit that yes I do not wave all the time but that is usually only after I have been waving all morning and it starts to get old, I not trying to be mean but it does get old waving to every bike on the road. So don't take it personally sometimes people just get sick of waving to everyone. | ||

It the same way with owning a a 1996 Corvette. Most C5 97-2004 owners have a problem with waving. Many of them also don't know about the wave. I see the same chit with bikes. Best way to deal with this BS is if you feel like waving then wave. If they don't wave back then screw them and move on. Life is too short to worry about why some too good harley rider feels he is too good to wave back. | ||

Keep in mind folks. After a long day of riding where you've been waving all day it gets kinda tedious. I tend to wave less and less near the near the end of the day when there's lot's of bikes out. Normally at the end I'll only wave if someone else waves first. | ||

I find it funny that when I'm on my harley most of the jap riders don't wave. (I wave at ALL bikes!) and when I'm on my Buell most of the Harley riders don't wave AND most of the Jap riders don't wave. Oh well, the life we lead! g u s | ||

I'll wave back if someone waves at me, but that's the extent of it. There are so many bikes around here you'd just end up riding one handed if you waved to everyone. I agree with Rageonthedl...you don't wave at other cars when you're driving your's. Unless you're in a Prius, they're a special breed (reference "Curb Your Enthusiasm). $hit, half the time you want to either wave some other hand gesture at them, call them an (insert profanity here) or tell them to go (insert profanity here) themselves, or rip them out of the car and beat the crap out of them...at least this is the case in South Florida. So, I'll wave back to be polite, but I'm not all that interested in everyone else when I'm riding. | ||

Yesterday I waved to some Harley guys at a cafe on the side of the road...they didn't wave back since they were just staring at the bike. I could tell they KNEW that sound but couldn't believe it came out of a Buell. One of the guys gave me a thumbs up which is better than a wave back in my book. | ||

Them's that know what you are (HD riders) give up a wave pretty easily. I see equal treatment from both camps (HD vs Metric). I find myself reluctent to wave to Goldwingers sometimes tho. Those aren't bikes - they're cars with two wheels missing.  |
