Is this purple discoloration normal. I have the D & D pipe on know. I am just waiting for the Buell race filters to be sent to Daves so I can get the race ecm and a Buell race filter. Does the purple discoloration mean a lean condition? Thanks

Yup it is normal, your front cylinder looks like it is running a little hotter then mine though. Any stainless pipe will turn a bluish/purple. |

Normal. Does anyone know if you can polish that pipe to look like stainless or chrome? |

Thanks. I ordered the polish last night and will get cracking. I am thinking that some steel wool with the polish should make short work of the job? |

Just cleaned mine up with 'Autosol' applied with newspaper as per a recent post here. Comes up a treat, it loses its copper colouring and comes up with a kind of chrome effect. |

I looks like it's running a little hot and lean to me. More of the pipe is discolored than norm. I'm no expert, just my 2 cents. |

Concur w/Norrisperformance... looks like you're running hot (AKA lean)... did you through a pipe on and K&N without changing the ECM???... Mine are slightly darkened but not blue... |

Looks just like mine. If you look at most of the pics of XBs on the board you'll see they are the same or have even more blue. |

Crazy_Z... I just looked at your profile and noticed that your perfomance mods list the following: "D & D exhaust, K & N and race ECM in the future" Like I said, you're likely running a little on the lean side.. you've increased the air intake and exhaust outflow but have failed to richen up you're fuel air mixture by utilizing the stock ECM... |

Like Freyke said. Looks a little hot to me, and Freyke may have just put his finger on the problem. |

I was talking to Bob Cashwell the other day. He's a sales rep for DragSpecialties. He said a buddy of his put drag pipes on a new twin cam and didn't do anything to the fuel. Toasted the motor in less than 500 miles. |

I just have the D & D on know. I am waiting for Daves to get the buell race filters in. I don't know if they will ever come off of backorder. When the filters come in, I will install the filter, race ecm and have the TPS reset. Thanks |

Brucelee I polished mine and the first ride out turned them back to the normal gold with a blusish tint close to the cylinders, its not worth it. |
