Well it was my first track day on my 04 12R and I don't like the D208's. I was running 30 lbs in both tires and my rear was sliding all over from mid corner to the exit. When I did get my knee down the rear slid out a mile for the feel of it. I now have them down to 29 lbs and they seem to be better. They also have the same stand up issues that the D207's did on turn in. I tried riding the 12R like I did my old 9S and I couldn't keep the rear end hooked up. I have the factory settings on the suspension also. Sunday the Bloomington Buell race mechanic going to be there for testing so I will have to hit him up with my handling woes. Any advice would be great. I don't feel like the 208's will stick and it is making me go very slow. Even slower when I had my 9S. Turn in seem to be great just mid corner off when I start to pick up the gas. I have to be completely standing up just about to give it the gas hard. Well I will do some more testing on Sunday's track day. Brupska |

Instead of going down in pressure, take them back up, remember you have dropped them 6lbs in the front and 8lbs in the rear. The intent is that when they get up to temp they are above your factory pressure. It just could be they aren't getting hot enough to bring the pressure up. Check them as soon as you pull off the track and see what the pressure is, if it isn't up to 36/38 then you need to run a little higher when you get to go back out, so if you were at 30 last time then move it up. |

I went with Pirelli Supercorse’s on the track. I have an XB12R. They have eliminated the standing up tendency (which I think is down to tire profile on the stock tires). Also, the 207’s once you start to push hard on the track, start to slide on corner exit. The Pirelli’s just hook up and drive forward. The 207’s & 208’s are good street tires however, give up on the track. At least they slide nice and controllably! |

I agree about the 207s, I understood the 208s were better but Diablo Supercorsas are a different league. You can try dropping the front end to help speed up the steering (minimise stand up) but this can make the front end unstable and you'll end up fitting a damper. |

I talked to the Buell race mechanic today and he helped me out. 29.5 in both tires. I was getting on the gas way to hard to soon. I tried to ride the 12R like my 9S out of the corners on a cold day and tires with only 700 miles on them. The last time I lost traction yesterday. I touch my knee down and chopped the gas. I was in third and I had some engine braking. I guess it was the loose nut behind the shield. I did notice today that the D208's move around a lot in cornering. I was also leaning off wrong yesterday. Today we only had 13 riders in the Novice group so we had two riders per instructor. We all got very good advice on our riding. I got moved up to the Intermediate group and It was great until I got tired. Two full track days at the start of the season was to much for a out of shape 35 year old. Thank you all for the help. |
