If I have this wrong please let me know... One can have the TPS set to a bike, then swap ECM's. If you decide to put the original ECM back in, the TPS will still be set to that bike bar too much wear in the TB. Thanks in advance. |

Each ECM stores its TPS setting, so if you have a Race ECM set, then swap back to stock, unless the TPS itself has changed there will be no issues and the TPS will not need to be reset, but I do understand Mayer's worry of not wanting to charge you for multiple resets. |

Yeah... I suppose... It's just that I told them how it works and they insisted on getting the "straight Story". I gave it to them... Oh well, next weekend I'll get it done... |

Do note that wear, heavy shocks (don't drop your bike ) and backfires will upset the TPS. It's not set for life so a reset every once in a while (too lazy to look up the maintanance schedule right now) doesn't hurt. |

I've been told on this forum that the TPS rest is no big deal. Any shop can do it and there is software available to do it yourself from the aftermarket. The software is not required at all anyway since several members of the forum have state in no uncertain terms that the TPS reset is a non issue as they have run 10,000 mile with no reset required. Sounds like Buell should remove that feature from the scanalyzer since it is not required. In closing you don't have a problem. Even if the TPS is off, it is right. Buell made the unit and it is the best unit on earth, therefore it has no problems. You just haven't learned to love the bike enough yet regardless of how the EFI functions. (Yes, this whole response in toungue in cheek.) Cheers! |

That's exactly what I thought... I went to my local dealer and they wouldn't reset three ECM's for me (XB12, XB12Race and XB9) because they thought that if I then swapped them out I would need another reset. I knew this wasn't the case but they wanted to be certain because they didn't want me to waste MY money... Oh well. I put the Race ECM in the bike last night with no reset at all and it runs great anyway. Now thay won't get any of my money, as I'll be buying the techno-research tool . |

lol Craig! Don, once an ecm is set to the tps of a particular bike, it remembers it basically forever. If you then want to fit that ecm to another bike, then and only then will the ecm need a tps reset. Your dealer just doesn't understand. I wonder how much it would have cost to put one of those mini switches into the ecm that you activate with a pen to reset the tps, about $6? |

That's exactly what I asked for in the new Buell survey... |
