When I got my '03 XB9S I immediately removed the passenger pegs as unneeded and ugly. But recently I read of how they protected the swingarm. I don't have swingarm protectors but recall reading about them. I'd prefer not to have the pegs, but in the meantime I'm putting them back on. Any advice from the experienced? |

After my wreck, I would say keep the pegs and add the swingarm protectors. My left side passenger peg is ground all the way down to a nub with mild road rash on the swing arm. (Message edited by wyckedflesh on April 07, 2005) |

Even though the bike might 'look better' without them, I too can say keep the pegs. They have more than one use. Get the swingarm sliders too. That's what I will be doing when I can. |

I know where you can get some swingarm sliders! |

From personal experience, the rear peg hangers do help protect the swingarm, but If I would have had the sliders, my swingarm and rear axle would have been a lot better off. |

I took mine off right after I bought the bike. I also have the swingarm sliders. The sliders did their job well, with no other damage to the rear of the bike. Ground down 3/4 of an inch off the slider at 50mph on pavement. |

the passenger pegs seem to catch the asphalt and flip the bike, which is my assumption on how my bike fliped on an 15mph lowside. Ben |
