I just want to remind you guys that are dialing more fuel into your bikes to get rid of popping that too rich is just as bad as too lean. I looked at a bike today and its not the first that was run too rich and it suffered from cylinder washing....too much fuel washing away the oil. The bike needs a top end rebuild. Made me want to let all you guys know so the same thing doesnt happen to anyone here. BTW, pulled some dyno runs mainly for air/fuel mixture and I am right in a good stoich range and i get the popping on decel. So your bike may be running right with some popping and crackel and adding more fuel may be hurting you more than you think. Phil |

What Phil said. Anything over .85 lambda or 12.5 A/F is too rich. I have noticed though, that the race ECM drives the mixture quite rich upon the instantaneous application of full throttle. It then moves back up leaner as RPMs climb. You can see that on my fourth gear pulls on the highway. They are posted on www.patmedia.net/haynesfam |

Phil, What settings were you running on the TFI which caused that? |

the race ECM drives the mixture quite rich upon the instantaneous application of full throttle Steve, it does look like its going quite rich for a couple of seconds after you wack the throttle open. I'm wondering if that's the Buell FI equivalent of the carby accelerator pump, just seems to hang on a bit too long. It would be interesting to see if you still get that dip when winding on the throttle a bit slower. |

Kowpow, I am a tech for a dealership, the bike I saw was a carb bike but it is not hard to do with a TFI. Phil |

Not to mention carbon build up on your valves. |

That bike must have smelled like raw gas and been smoking like crazy. |
