When my bike is warm and I am at a stop light it will be idling fine and then it will stumble kind of like a hesitation and almost stall, then it goes back to idling fine. I have the stock airbox that has been cheese grated, and modified stock can, snorkel tube is also removed. I need the TPS reset but that should effect the air/fuel mixture should it? It also pops when I let off the gas which make me think it is running lean, would the techlusion cure this problem. My roommate had his on dyno and it does the same popping and they say his bike is running rich? Any suggestions. |

Solve any problems you are having before doing any other mods like the TFI. I would think if your bike is running so lean it is stalling and stumbling you're about to burn a valve. Then again, it could be running rich as well. I would let it idle for a few minutes and pull a spark plug out to check. You're not smelling gas? The TPS value is one of the variables the ecm is using to calculate the amount of fuel to inject. If that value is off to the wrong side of the curve, you might be running lean. It's only in a specific area of rpms that the O2 sensor is being used as the main input for fuel injection calculations. |

Thanes: I have most of the mods you do, with the exception of that I have a 12 airbox. My bike does the same exact thing about once a month. I honestly think it has more to do with how the ecm has "trained" itself from the ride exactly prior to that heppening. Mine seems to do it more after long periods of city or slow traffic driving. No over lean issues that I could speak of. The bike runs like a top, and many others here have the same modded stock pipe and 12 airbox with no ill effects on the engine. Mine does that almost all the time. My dealer blamed it on the Techlusions. (figures) Every few seconds the last pot on right will flash green, WTF. |

check your plug cables the could be rubbed,at least mine were and my bike did the same |

That is why my bike was at my dealer. Rode 2 to have my TPS reset. When I left, my bike was idling at 2700rpms. Took it back and they blamed the TFI. |

my 12 does the same thing with the race ecm in it ...not that this helps at all But I would like some ideas as well ...we tried everything ..tps reset, new TB, new O2 ..replaced it all ...can not get it to run right with the race ecm ..and it fine with the stock ecm ...similar mods grated air box..with a D&D ...wish I could find some answers ..other than TFi and tuning ... |

Thansesxb9rs I'm having the same symptoms with my XB9S, D&D, K&N, and swiss-cheesed XB12 air box lid. I just reset my TPS with the Technoresearch software with no change. It may be that the D&D was designed to run with the stock ECM and intake system? It could be that the race ECM was designed to run with the race muffler? I used the Technoresearch software to check out the coils, injectors, etc. and all came back "PASSED". I also replaced the intake manifold seals thinking that might be it with no real difference. I have the stock ecm, my air filter has 4400 miles on it but looks clean. My idle is set at 1000 so it is within range. Like vegas said it seems to only do it in slow city traffic, I will do it once on the way to work and once on the way home about a 15 mile trip each way. I am going to get the TPS reset but I don't think that is the problem. What is the best way to check for an intake leak? This problem is new, it didn't do this last year. |

Bump your idle up to 1050. Yes that little 50rpm can make a big difference. Some of us have noticed the engine gets that slight stumble or even an off idle hiccup or pop on take off if the idle is below 1050. If after you have made the adjustment ith the bike warmed up and the idle seems to hang for a bit or it drops back down to 1000 or lower rpm then it could be a TPS issue. If your idle hunts around, that is an indication of either an intake leak or a tps issue. |

What Wyckedflesh said. Mine usually takes about a day for the ECM to readjust after riding in the mountains or at any altitude greatly different from that in which I live. |

you could check for an intake leak by running the bike up to full operating temperature then try spraying some brake clean around the intake seals, if it stalls....intake leak. phil |
