My trailer is all assembled with torx head bolts. None of mine torx bits fit though. T-20 is real damn close but the bolts are just enough off on the size that it wont fit. They arent tamper resistant bolts either.

Torx bolts have 6 "points" these bolts have 8.
Any answers as to what the hell these bolts are?

I just did a Google search on it and found this page:

http://www.diyprojects.info/bb/sutra128601.html

They are talking about something called a Robertson square bit too.

I just went and picked a couple up...they work like a charm.

Now I gotta question just who in the hell is inventing this kinda stupid stuff?? If they want a torx why not just use torx?????????

Robertson is a square bit that was invented in Canada and seems to have stayed here exclusively. I've only seen them for wood applications. They come in 3 sizes, and do seem to work for other goofy fasteners. If any of you guys need them in the US, let me know and I'll grab you some, they're cheap. Yusta work for a company that shipped gear back and forth with an affiliate in L.A. and we always crated the stuff with Robertson screws, drove them crazy!

Its a speed bit system, that allows the bit to drop in place quickly without stripping the heads.
