Spare yourself a click. Here it is:
quote:New Contingency For AMA Formula Xtreme Racers On Buells Mar 29, 2005 From a press release issued by BadWeatherBikers.com: BUELL MOTORCYCLE ENTHUSIASTS FUND AMA FORMULA XTREME BONUS AWARDS PROGRAM BadWeatherBikers.com (BadWeB), an online (got no real life) community (asylum) of Buell motorcycle (big hairy bellowing American V-Twins and thumpers) enthusiasts (incorrigible hooligans), is happy (cause we're able to talk about ourselves) to announce our sponsorship of a bonus awards program (bribe) for Buell motorcycle racers (real men with big hairy brass ones) competing in (trying to run the Hondas off into the ditch) the 2005 AMA Formula Xtreme class (Honda's personal AMA racing series in which all the other factories are apparently afraid to compete). The total BadWeB/AMA FX awards program (bribe) exceeds $10,000 (we don't do math very well). The awards (bribes) will be offered to the participating top four finishing (and living breathing able to at least crawl and grunt after the race) Buell motorcycle racers (real men with big hairy brass ones) in each Formula Xtreme event (confrontation of American brutes and Honda's elite) of 2005 according to the following award (bribe) structure:
1st - $600 2nd - $300 3rd - $200 4th - $100 BadWeB was deeply saddened to see one of the biggest and baddest Buell racers of them all (since Erik himself put duct tape to leather racing the RW750 in AMA Formula 1) lose portions of a few small extremities while racing (getting taken out) in the FUSA series as preparation for the 200. We all wish Mr. Shawn Higbee a thorough and speedy recovery and a successful re-entry into racing a bad azz Buell in an AMA Professional series. We also wish all the rest of the Buell racing privateers the best of luck and success in garnering the meager bribes that the hooligans at BadWeB were able to scratch up. If anyone would like to help support this effort, please visit BadWeatherBikers.com and join in the fun via the applicable topics on the BadWeB "Quick Board." You can flat out donate (give us) your money or buy a bunch of our really cool limited edition calendars. Go Buell Racers kick azz!
an online (got no real life) community (asylum) of Buell motorcycle (big hairy bellowing American V-Twins and thumpers) enthusiasts (incorrigible hooligans), is happy To quote Court, that is an accurate statement. Well, apart from the big hairy bellowing thing I guess. Don't know about you but I'm friggin' proud about that contigency plan! (Message edited by blake on April 15, 2005) |

OK, that said.. I don't see anyone at the 'honda', 'yamaha', 'kawisaki', 'suzuki' sites doing anything like this.. So I'm VERY PROUD to be among this fine and august group of "Incorrigible Hooligans"! Perhaps some year the rest of the biking world will see the error of their ways.. Nahhhhhh... We're just different .. Like our machines and the, uh, incorrigible hooligans that build them. Thanks to all of those that fall into the above mentioned category of fine human kind.. |

Blublak - good point. I posted similar thoughts on another board - agreeing - does anybody see this level of support for Suzuki, Kawi, Honda, Yamaha privateers? Show me a link. (we know the anser) Now... OK Fess up - who WHO wrote that RRW release? Court?? Blake?? Anonymous?? WHO? |

Yeah, that's all I wanted to know. Who wrote it? I want to clarify that I wasn't laughing at the press release, I was laughing with it. It's funny! Funny is good! I didn't contribute any money directly to the fund (I'm really not a big race fan) but I did buy a calendar so I am contributing indirectly. |

It couldn't be Blake. Blake has no sense of humour. Blake is a stuck up jerk that everybody hates. Or maybe he's not? |

I guess that even an ogre like me can have a moment of inspiration one in a lifetime. Glad y'all enjoyed it. I had fun writing it. I got an email on it. How funny is this...
quote:-----Original Message----- From: BentSV650@***.*** Sent: Wednesday, March 30, 2005 12:53 AM To: BadWeatherBikers.com Subject: AMA Formula Extreme Contingency Your press release about the Formula Extreme Contengency bragged about Eric's RW750 endurance racer, but I didn't see it mentioned he used SUZUKI engines back then. And, Miguel gets a 1 million dollar bonus from Honda for winning the Daytona 200, do you think a $600 contengency in a race that burns up $2200 in tires will be an incentive? If you want to sponsor a team, dig a whole lot deeper....
To which I replied...
quote:Dear Whateverthehellyournameis, Yikes! Ignorance! Don't fear, here comes my big hairy knowledge to the rescue! Erik Buell's RW750 AMA Formula-1 racing machines did not use Suzuki engines. They used a square-four two-stroke Barton based engine for which Erik Buell had purchased all the tooling and design rights. Neither was the RW750 an endurance racer. As stated it was an AMA Formula-1 racing machine. It was designed to compete with the likes of the Yamaha TZ750. A contingency is not a team sponsorship. The BadWeB contingency for Buell racers in FX is just a little added incentive and show of appreciation to any Buell racers with the balls to compete in FX. It goes to the racer, not the team owner/manager as is the case with a sponsorship. Apparently you missed the lighthearted tongue-in-cheek tone of the press release. We certainly don't take ourselves very seriously. You might consider doing the same. Now go away and leave me alone, or I will publish your silly whiny little email online. Seriously, why are you berating what is a positive and friendly effort by a bunch of motorcycle enthusiasts? Not very nice. Nice is good. Not nice is sucky. Don't be sucky. Cheers, ride to lean, rubber side up, lower lap times... Blake (admin - www.BadWeatherBikers.com PS: You must be stuck somewhere up North where the riding season is yet to fully materialize. Grumpy antagonism would be thus explained and excused. If not, well... don't be sucky.

"Dear Whateverthehellyournameis" Oh Man Blake I Love It! Your reply was succinct, to the point and good natured yet ever so pointed a fine barb or five indeed. Perhaps he'll ask you later to explain a few more things too him. Like how AMA doesn't have a F-1 class. And there is no such thing as a "Barton" motor, and you can't have a two and four stroke motor at the same time and square pistons.. I'm sorry, but since I read that interview, and now your perfect reply to his inane 'letter' well, my morning has just perked right up! Thanks for the early morning grin. Oh, and once again, great press release! Thanks.. |

Thanks all. That email was just so darn silly. I couldn't take it seriously. Char, I often try to channel Court, but the ensuing flurry of knowledge and creativity and untold terabytes of rich storytelling (remind me to tell you) that invade my poor geek/hick brain is just too much. Call it a brilliance/quirk overload. I may have been inspired by James' (Buellerthanyou's) very entertaining report on the Twisted/Thrills adventures/antics/gatherings/rides. Not sure but the "big hairy" references might have been inspired from that. I'm Blind!!! Inside joke, you'll have to read James' tale, or is it "tail" to grasp it. Now I'm not only blind, but I've got the willies. Truthfully (no WMDs here), I was inspired (drunk) by all of the good natured banter (pis5-taking, just learned that new term, makes me sound sophisticated, no?) that we share (brutally subject upon the innocent) here (asylum). I just want to get out (run away) and meet (get free food and drinks) more of the cool folks (anyone who will talk to me) who spend time (hide from reality) here.
Dan, We have right at $8K less $1.5K for admin fee. Expect to garner another $1.5K with offering of event passes. Still have outstanding pledges of around $1K. So we are at around a net total of around $9K. Must sell more calendars! If we sell all the remaining calendars we'll meet our goal and be fully funded to cover our obligations should four Buells finish each of the remaining FX events. Should Buell racers achieve great things and calendar sales fall short, of course the only alternative will be to threaten torture and extortion. I do have pictures you know. Right Char? heheheh (Next year's calendar could get to be real interesting.) I also have free run of a not-too-obscure web site and access to photo-editing software and a very twisted devious mind. Mwuwahahahah!
Thanks again for the kind words all. I'm undeserving of any such kindness. Cause remember, I not only play an a__hole on the internet, I am one in real life. But I am working on it. |

Blake -- great writing, but I'd be very wary of channeling Blake -- yer livestock will be glued into cars, you'll never finish a story, pics of you dressed in a wifebeater and skimmer will randomly appear hither and yon . . . .. t'ain't a pretty picture, sir! |

Blake - I'll pledge another small chunk to help cover the deadbeats or short-fall - I can't afford it because I have also taken it upon myself to single-handedly support the Welfare State this year but I can't afford NOT TO help either. |

If we sell all the remaining calendars... I will make a mention of it at our next BRAG meeting (04.05.05). 3 guys there said they wanted them and had me post interest here on their behalf. Might get a couple more takers too. |

Bomber, Luckily Jack seems to take it all in stride. But I did notice that when Court is in the vicinity, Jack sticks (no pun intended) very close to Vickie. Geez Steve, I think we'll be good to go. Sure is cool of you to offer more though. But man, we want your team fully funded and in the fray with no excuses this year. BTW, the offer still stands, same deal as we discussed last year. If you are up for it. There ain't gonna be no deadbeats. Dead maybe. Beat maybe. I know a guy on Statten Island who works on commission. And he really likes his job. Would be really cool if everyone could mention the calendars to their dealer contacts and fellow Buell enthusiasts. Thanks all. |

Blake - I gotta see how the recovery goes. I'm out of racing at least 2 more months - then depending on the financial injury (still working on taxes) - I might have another delay on my return to racing. At least I got my first podium before crashing out! (Message edited by slaughter on April 01, 2005) |
