anyone know if a 99 X1 rear rotor will fit a 97 S3...(my rear brake pad was rubbing a little too hard, and it left little turds of material along the rotor.) OR.... will the rotor hone on the American Sportbike site work to get the "turds" off I might be able to get the rotor cheaper, but then again the tool would be nice to have if it works. |

The X1 rotor will fit fine on your S3. I do not know about the hone tool. Never heard of it. |

New one on me, too. http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F2911993&rnd=7083 067&rrc=N&affl=&cip=66.166.62.210&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=16055&cat=&catstr= but there it is! Twowheel, if that doesn't work, try some Charmin... rt |

RT, tried charmin in the form of a screwdriver and a mallet to chip the "turds" off... about 4 whacks to break one off the size of the screwdriver tip. got 2 off and it wasn't really a clean process, and i figured i would end up doing more damage than good. more of a test to see how well they were stuck on there. side note: anything i shouldn't be using brake clean on to get clean?

the flexable hone will not really help you. they are more just for removing rust and stuff like that not really for creating a smooth surface just for refinishing it. more along the lines of giving you the proper surface to help break in new pads. hope this helps. post a pic if possibable. aaron |
