Need a little help: I pulled my rocker boxes to change out the gaskets this weekend but think I may have reversed them, back to front front to back, when I put them back on. Question 1) Does it matter? Question 2) If yes, what are the part #'s for the rocker boxes on up for each cylinder? (Message edited by drfuyutsuki on March 28, 2005) |

I'm not sure if I understand question 2 but if you put the rocker boxes back with the umbrella valves in wrong then yes it does matter. The umbrella valves need to be installed to the highest portion of the cylnders. If installed at the lowest you are going to lose a lot of oil.. |

If you're going to keep the stock rocker boxes, you need to do the "fix". It's well documented an photoed in the Knowlege Vault. Brad |

The question in the end was whether or not the rocker boxes are interchangable between the front and rear cylinders, sorry for the confusion. Bluz, I searched the KV but couldn't find the post your talking about could you put up a link please? I will check the umbrellas tonight to make sure I did it right, but pretty sure I put the umbrellas in the correct side. Josh |

Yes, they are interchangeable. As long as the umbrellas are in the upper position you are fine. |

Here's a link to a picture I posted a while back. The lower picture is the modified cover. Also note that he drain back hole has been drilled out to 1/8". You only need to do one side of each middle cover. Just the "top" side toward the intake. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=3842&post=183773#POST183773 (Message edited by bluzm2 on March 29, 2005) |
