I want to lower the ride height on my bike so I can flat foot it at lights and such. I have seen some aftermarket stiffer rear shock springs that should do the trick. There is also the shock spring for the XB9S Low. Has anyone made this change and do you have any recommendations for what rear shock spring is the best to accomplish this without sacrificing handing. Heck, I'd be willing to spend a few bucks for an upgrading, better performing rear shock that would also allow for a lower ride height. I've seen the Penske shock on Trojan but the pricing is a little steep. Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, would changing the rear shock and lowering rear ride height affect the performance of the front suspension? Thanks. |

There are a few places that sell a non-nitrided Hyper-Pro unit that's $850... I would certainly add the front suspension from the Low. If you lower the rear only it will change the geometry in a few ways. The swingarm will not be at the same angle compared to the front forks as stock (keep in mind that LOTS of math went into finding the right geometry) so the wheel base will change differently. In that situation you are both leveling the swingarm and adding more angle to the forks. This will reduce anti-dive and make the tendency to shorten the wheelbase much greater. IMO this will kill a great deal of the top notch stability that the bike offers in stock form. The fork angle change will also make the bike steer slower. Anyway... There's no way to lower the bike that won't affect the handling. |

lowering the only rear will make the steering slow and heavy. |
