I'm re-installing my front drive sprocket onto the output shaft of the trans. (97 S1) With the sprocket in place I can move the sprocket up and down on the shaft a small amount, not a lot. The splines look real good. Is this normal? Thanks in advance, Hodakaguy |

Not sure how much is OK. Very little, I would think. There was an up-grade on the pulleys at some point, where they went from 1/2" to 3/4" in thickness because of the splines stripping out of the pulley. It doesn't hurt the shaft itself, if you want to let it go for a while. When you have a problem developing, you see a deformation in the locking plate's corners. The up-grade, if you don't have it already, includes a different spacer behind the pulley, and the seal that it fits in. And an up-grade on the locking plate itself. |
