Frogger: Doin' well. thanks. I just keep at the theraputic exercise and slowly grain strength in select muscle groups. I'll be on two feet at some point or another. It may take a lot longer than I thought (maybe a year or so), but I'll do it. Shred: It was good to talk to you too. I certainly wish I could have been there. Next year will come around even faster than the passing of the last... I'll see you there. B_S: I've gone to a bicycle shop and tried out a recumbent tricycle. If I could keep my feet from flopping at the end of my legs I could ride the thing as therapy. I can dis-assemble my KAFOs... but they're huge because they were built to be able to flex at the ankle with a simple cut. So..... I wanted to talk to you about a a pair of AFOs to be used for the bike only. I wouldn't need to stand on 'em. I just want 'em low profile enough to slip into a cycling shoe (needed to hold my foot on the pedal) and strong enough to keep me from floppin'. What do I need to do to get you and/or your company to handle 'em. |

Torqer....Call and set up an appointment with Marc Kauffman. You will probably speak with our Secretary, Doreen and ask to speak with Marc personally. He is our Orthotists and can fix you up. Tell him who you are and how you know me and we can get you started. Shouldn't be to hard to make that. Atlanta Prosthetics and Orthotics, Inc. 404-636-0321 |

Is there going to be a meeting tomorrow or did we take care of that before we left last week? Just curious. |

Could we have the meeting here at the dealership? It is very hard for me to make it to wings landing on thursdays. We can have a quick meeting and then head to the Vortex. Let me know if this works for everyone. |

Torqer, Would some clip-in pedals and mountain bike shoes work to hold your feet on? Some pedals have less float/rotation than others if that's what you were referring to in saying flopping around. |

MikeJ: That type of pedal/shoe combo is exactly what I'll need. However the union between foot and leg is floppy as I have no muscle control below the knee. So some of them fancy braces that hold the ankle still will also be needed. I just spoke with a fella who is probably goin' to make 'em for me. |

Understood. Didn't know if some of the MTB over the ankle shoes would work. I suppose you could mount the cycling cleats to the bottom of motorcycle boots? Regardless, you've got the right attitude, keep at it, the time will pass in no time. http://www.nashbar.com/profile_moreimages.cfm?category=84&subcategory=1041&sku=1 2849&brand= |

Torqer, Maybe contact these guys: http://www.lakecycling.com/about.html They used to do custom shoe sizes for people with big or wide feet. They may be able to modify one of their winter hightop MTB shoes to give you what you need. Most it should cost to find out is an email to them. And you just know several people are probably already thinking of how they can put an engine in the recumbent trike you posted a pic of. |
