I think I'm going to place an order for a new seat. Any recommendations on the myriad of materials that Corbin offers?

Buellny, that seat looks SWEEEET! Signguy, I used just the basic black leather with the carbon fiber look vinyl on the sides. It is nothing special but it is a GREAT seat.

Ordered one at a show, had it within two weeks.
The sales person convinced me that vinyl is the way to go on the side panels. He explained that after the break in (which can be up to 1500 miles) the vinyl sides will not wrinkle like leather would. The grain of the leather and vinyl don't exactly match, but the overall comfort of the seat makes up for any short comings it may have. I did have some difficulty first mounting it and with the help of Al Lighton, I was able to shave down the rear bumpers about 1/3 with a Dremel to get it to latch. I picked black leather (regular, not carbon style) for the seat and the closest black matching vinyl for the sides. I chose the traditional rear height, I feel it holds me in the seat better.
You have lots of options, so take your time before you order. It is really a much improved seat over stock and their new prices are a big incentive. Last year they were $350.

Matty how much did that run you? I'm thinking of doing the exact same seat.

Right now they are going for $219 on corbins web site. With saddle cream and shipping it was close to $250. Give corbin a call, I wasnt real sure what I wanted but the guy I talked to really helped me out.

I have a Corbin also with the standard rear. I like the feel on my behind better than the stock seat, but I will swap them out sometimes for a different feel or ride. I got it through Daves...don't remember the price. I sure like the Corbin with the yellow flames though. Wish I had seen that before I got the one I have now.

As for making it fit the bike, I simply added a couple of small washers as spacers under the latch plate so I did not have to trim the bumpers. It might stick up a little more, but only fractions of an inch at the rear than if you trimmed the the bumpers, but I don't think much. Besides, all it takes is a small wrench and a couple of washers to make it snap right in place.

Bottom line, the Corbin is a good choice. I don't think you will regret the purchase.

I've got a Corbin on my ZRex with the carbon fiber seating surface and vinyl sides. The Corbin sales rep I talked to recommended the carbon fiber for a sport bike because it doesn't age like leather does. Real comfortable, looks good and after 3-1/2 years still looks new.

Thanks for the replies. I received samples from Corbin in the mail yesterday. Unfortunately, they didn't send a sample of all the styles I requested. I'll probaly go with the same combination as Matt...regular black leather and black carbon fiber vinyl for the sides.
