What is with all the people going down? The sun comes out and people go loco? Maybe it is a good thing neither of our bikes run....lol Good news about Brandon, I have never met the guy but he sounds like the type that will pull through just fine. Wish we could have been at the daytona party, stuff came up and we had to stay home. Next time for sure though. So I took the S1 jugs and my new pistons to be honed last week, they were supposed to be done on wed, then it was thurs, then friday. We will see if they are done today (Monday) Sheesh can nothing go right? |

Did you see the new model from Triumph? I think it's starting to look a little dated myself.

One of Triumph's "MODERN CLASSICS" line of bikes no doubt. A while ago, Lyle and I had a chance to put a few miles on a Yamaha 650 twin that looked a lot like the bike pictured above. What a huge POS that bike was!! I have to think an 80's something Yamaha would have been a big improvement over a 60's era Brit bike but it was still a big POS. Our dear ol' dads must have been a lot tougher than we give them credit for being. I'll take a new, high tech. bike every time. Nostalgia is fun to look at but bad to ride. IMHO, YMMV. |

Chris and Loni, Thanks for putting on such a great daytona party! Really enjoyed seeing everyone again, can't wait for the next excuse to crash your party. Wish I could have stayed longer and been able to go to the track on Sunday. But visiting old friends, relatives and our real estate agent had to be done. Sounds like there's some stories to be told of Sunday's nonsense. Damnit Deb! Your really pissing me off. I held you up as a shining example of a motorcycle woman to my wife then you go and do something silly. Just goes to show that it happens to the best of them. Hope all is alright for you and the bagger. Hair over quick gal. |

Debbie: I'm sorry. Glad you're mostly alright. Bob&Deb: Please post some details about the medical condition of, and the accident involving, our friends Brandon and Duane. How are they doing and what are the circumstances surrounding this horrible accident. How could this happen to two experienced cyclists and what can we do to avoid such a tragedy in the future? |

How could this happen to two experienced cyclists and what can we do to avoid such a tragedy in the future?---Hello, Ray??? Cripes man, that's a weird question. Stop riding motorcycles? Get a horse? I think it's simply a matter of S-H-I-T happens. Statistics killed the cat sort of thing. It just makes the consequences sit there in front of you, and turning your head away is not effective now. sooner, Galen |

So what are the facts of this crash? Nothing's been said yet. |

The facts are hard to come by. A tremendous amount of shock to both guys makes remembering the accident very difficult. Bob surmised from examination of the scene and from recovery of the bikes the following: Roadrash leading Duane. Too fast through an unexpectedly tight turn. Roadrash over the yellow line head-on into oncoming vehicle. Duane drawn to same line, low sided, caught rear of cager, much less injury and damage to his bike. Bob's photo's of Roadrash's S-1 show it totally smashed to hellandgone. Cases busted, gears on the ground. There is nothing salvageable. He is very lucky to be alive and on the mend. |

Sunday BRAG ride in Portland. I am unable to attend. Brought the M2 to Anton to pull the front head and extract the broken motor mount bolt. After thinking it over, the bike had a lot of extra shake in it ever since the goat track crash north of Winthrop returning from Border Raid. When I mounted the new header this winter, I ended up having to double nut it cuz the nuts kept backing out. I'm guessing the motor mount was busted then and I didn't see it. Thanks Roc for pointing it out. So, anyway, it is in good hands but he is about 10 days backed up. Oh well. If he finds any problems with the head it would be my chance to send them to NRHS for Stage II work. If head looks good, then keep on riding her. |

correction, Duane was not hit by car. And I think Duane was slightly leading with brandon on left and then brandon In corner collided with SUV. And Duane then lost and went low. OUCH!! Both are doing good. Duane is at home, and Brandon is at harborview. And will recover, and will also need a replacement bike Deb |

S1 update, well it has been over a month and I think it is almost done. (Month long NOT due to Anton, but back-orderd parts.) New Pistons/Rings, Bored jugs, Bushings, New valve lifters, Valves all cleaned up, Front and rear new tires (dunlop 208's), Rear Sprocket, Brake pads, left rear blinker, New Corbin twin tail seat, chin fairing, and probably more. She was suggestively leaning next to a very strapping manly weed wacker. I see she has been so demoralized by her current state that she thinks those are the only men she is capable of landing these days. Oh the poor girl. It is amazing Brandon lived to tell about it. |

Deb, most of us are hoping you have a chest protector too. I can custom fit you with one. I just need to make some careful, complete, and non-invasive measurements. Won't take more than 30 minutes, tops. Maybe a little longer if my hands are cold. |
