i'm looking for opinions from fellow buellers that have carbed tubers and own either a force or d&d full exhaust, i have narrowed it down to these two due to the popularity they have on this and other buell sites. sound is not an issue to me, performance is what i'm looking for as well as reliability. i have a 99 cyclone w/ nallin 1250 and buell race kit, i hope to get head work this summer then hsr42 and cams in fall, the exhaust i'll be buying before may. i use the bike primarily for commuting and weekend fun on the back roads. any input would be greatly appreciated especially if you have ( or have had ) a similar set up. i plan on going with a port/valve job and .536 cams. |

no one component can really help a bike, but one bad component "not working with everything else" can. your bike is the sum of all its parts working together. some parts work well together others dont. if you like nallins stuff and are going to stick with their stuff. then talk with them. i believe they sell the force system or one especially modified for them. that is probably the exhaust that their components work best with. if it was my money i would call up nallin and talk with them.. just a thought to ponder. nothing more nothing less. |

also a good point aaron, i may have nallin do the heads (stg2) if not it'll be a local guy that does good work named hans, i've heard good and bad things about the force, that reliability might be an issue. one thing that's going to be a problem, i think i may have an inferior front mount. i'll have to post a pic but i think i may need the upgraded mount for either system. i don't know if that's something you have to weld on or not i'll have to do more research i think there's a kit available from buell for a hundred bucks or something. does anyone know if either or both systems give access to the tranny drain plug? |

I haven't used the full D&D system but have tried their slip-on (which shares similar construction) and the Buell race system. The D&D muffler in particular is much more solidly built and will not need the constant repacking that the race kit requires. However, my D&D slip-on is significantly louder at low speeds than the race kit. It's not a particularly nice noise either - a bit hard and Harley like. I prefer the sound and appearance (I live in the UK so the mild steel D&D will rust in no time) of the race kit. I doubt that the performance difference between the two would be enough to sway a decision and I'm sure that cornering clearance is not an issue with either of them. |

The D&D is a superior setup in my opinion- also the manufacturer of the force pipe (whoever the hell they are this week) has demonstrated time and time again that all they care about is getting you money. Any conpromise encountered with the product will get you dubious customer support, and the blame is usually placed on the consumer for improper installation. I have yet to see a force pipe that has not cracked somewhere. I have yet to see a force pipe that has not blown it's (pricy) 'Street baffle'... My D&D isnt the quietest thing around, for sure- but that force pipe will rattle your teeth at certain RPMs! |
