Anybody go for a ride yesterday???? We did (Jason, William and myself) just around the block, mind you, but it was great fun. Now, if we could just get my bike to not cough and sputter, it would be a much better ride..But, man,.....it REALLLLY felt great to ride!! Hope you all went out and enjoyed the great weather! |

My Red S3T couged and sputtered when I first got it. It ended up being the "slow" jet still being stock. While the previous owner had switched out the "fast" jet when he added the race kit. Did you try just changing out the jets? |

That's essentially what the new carb is - a stock CV 40 with different jets, and different springs for better throttle response. Got it in trade from a friend who assures me that it has been properly tuned and I very much believe him. |

I ended up putting a #48 'slow' jet in to mine, up from I think, #42. Gas mileage went from 48-50 to about 40-42 during my every day commute. It sucks, I couldn't get out yesterday. Too busy gutting the upstairs of our house. 105 year old cracked plaster don't look real appealing any longer |

Hey Jason, Bring the bike over if you want and we can take a look at it....have a few ideas on it. That should have been pretty close for your set up. Thought there was a #45 slow in it, but maybe not. By the way, there are two different Keihin carb bodies out there: a 5 transfer port and a 4 transfer port. The 5 transfer port body typically takes 1 size smaller slow jet than the equivalent 4 transfer port body. EG, a #48 slow in a 4 port body flows the same amount of fuel as a #45 in a 5 port. I believe Jason's is a 5 port. All Buell carbs were originally 4 port. |

Hey Wes, long time no, er, read I guess. I still have to switch the carb out, that's why the coughing. I don't expect to have any problems once I get that other one on. I just have to get the time to do it. Once it's done, I'll let you know how it works out (and get you the other carb). I'm sure life will be good (and fast). Thanks! |

Sweet! Yea, its been pretty crazy lately. Trying to get the XB ready for Daytona took a lot of time. Just got back from Daytona...XB exceeded expectations! Was leading Kershaw, SC race and crashed, but re-mounted and ended up 2nd on track but got disqualified. Got a second out at Daytona on Monday and was leading on lap 6 of 8 on Tuesday when my shifter fell off! Thing was a bullet on the banking and is handling pretty good through the infield... Can't wait to get it dialed in a little more and hit some real road race tracks. Cool on the carb...I think the new one should solve your problem. Come on Spring! |

Congrats on the results (why the DQ?) Sucks about the shifter. Hopefully, more of your finishes start to reflect how you ran. Keep us posted on your race schedule and don't forget to give me a shout if you ever need a hand with anything. |

Recap of last minute, short notice, multi BRAG club officers meeting. Well we had 8 people there so not a bad turn out given the short notice. We decided that the second Sunday of every month, starting in May is a gathering at the Hamburger Haus in Dundee. It is, I have been told, already a bike hangout and is right in the middle of the good roads in the Kettle. By doing this we should have a good number of Buell congregating without having to have big group rides. All groups will ride their own route to Dundee and back home. Think mini Rock Store atmosphere. Riders that don't care to ride in a group at all can just ride to Dundee. Meeting time will be 1:00 PM or there abouts. This will also take pressure off club officers as to planning things to do. Those riders that can make it, make it, those that can't, come the next month. It will also make it easy to remember for club members. Other stuff April 30th Erik and the Thunderbolts at Lakeshore HD/Buell May 14th Open House HD/Buell of Appleton Aug 6th River run to Dubuque, Lakeshore HD/Buell July 23rd Stunt Fest at Union Grove Sept 17-18th Ride around Lake Michigan Thanks to Steve for lighting a fire under this project! |

Dave...et al. May 8th, Mother's Day, is the second Sunday in May, which may pose a conflict for many that would like to participate. |

Just got home a little bit ago. Have lots of pics to post & stories to tell. Daytona kicks major butt, much better than Sturgis. We ate like pigs too, Grouper, Flounder, Salmon, shark, Alligator, Conch..tried it all & I have to say the best was the Flounder & the shark. Put on about 800 miles on bike, but my fron tire only saw about 700 I think it must have something to do with the sea level air. |
