Sure, they raced some at Daytona before they had the Lightning Series. There was a shot of some of the bodywork on the board at one time. |

Sport or Touring? I suppose it depends on how you ride it. I'm thinking with a bit of tweaking I might actually be able to turn a faster lap at Mosport on the S2 than I can on the S1. Be working against a weight penalty, of course, but Mosport's made up primarily of fairly high speed corners with very little braking. I think it's possible that the more stable and streamlined S2 could fair better. On the S1 I have to back off a bit into Mosport's turn 8, a fast sweeping right hander at the top of the straight. I'm sure I could safely carry more speed through 8 with the S2's higher chassis and aerodynamic stability. Saving time on bigger faster corners like that can have a more dramatic impact on your lap times than squirting through slower corners. Now on a tight, gnarled, lots of braking type course like Cayuga there'd be no contest: The S1 would take it every time. An XB12 would be even cooler. I'll take both the S1 and the S2 to the Canadian Ducati Club Mosport track weekend in May and then I'll get back to you. Lornce |

Don't take a bike to the track unless you're willing to crash it and watch it slide along the tarmac and then watch it flip and endo as the pegs and handlebars catch the edge of the track ... Henrik |

Not that Henrik has ever personally seen this happen, but he's been told of such things. |

COOL...I'd like to see it. Actually, the most famous S-2 on a race track picture is the one of Scott Zampach and it was awesome. Court |

Not that Henrik has ever personally seen this happen ... Nope, uh uhh, not me, no sirree Bob ... especially not from the tarmac level view ... Really though - even if you go to a track day with all the best intentions, there *is* a risk that you may crash. I'd been using my S3 for track duty as well as street (never crashed the S3 mind you), when I finally realized, that if I *were* to crash the S3, the repair would likely be more than the cost of a used SV650 - so I picked up a used SV Henrik |

The solution is obvious. ALWAYS close your eyes before your bike slides to the edge of the tarmac. |

S2...SPORT OR TOURING? I see the S2 as a Jack of all trades. It does not really seem to dominate in any one area, but is capable in all. |
