Stolen from SI's The 10 Spot: The stir over Jose Canseco's book Juiced has renewed debate over whether the admitted steroid user still deserves to have a street named in his honor near his old high school, Florida's Coral Park High. Jose Canseco Street was originally a small one-way road but suspiciously grew to a six-lane expressway in the late '80s. |

My daughter was telling me that her marketing instructor at Iowa State Univ. was talking about Buell today. He was talking about how Harley has targeted the younger rider by buying Buell and hoping to steer them to Harley as they get older. That won't work for me, I tried growing up once, I didn't like it! |

Of course, the one response I get on this board is about how my bike will be missed, instead of answers to questions or emotional ( he's finally leavin'!) goodbyes! I tried the long distance relationship before, matalstorm, it didn't work, I had to come back to my baby! so now I get to have my woman and my sweetheart |

Just a reminder, that this Monday, March 7th is "Rat Bike Night" at American Sport Bike Night in San Leandro http://www.americansportbikenight.com/ The rules as stated for the past few months are simple. Any motorcycle, in any condition, the rattier the better (there will be a judge) can compete at Rat Bike Night on Monday. The bike does not have to be rideable, have tires, be registered, but it must at least be recognizable as a motorcycle, and it must run for a period of 30 seconds. That's what the rules were, so find that old "beater" and drag it to American Sport BikeN this coming Monday for some fun and excitement. Just a recent update, the judge for Rat Bike Night is Bill Keys, of Fremont Cycle Center and he called to let me know that he's participating in a "Track Day" at Thunderhill on Monday, but he WILL be there at American Sport BikeN to judge. He might be a little late, but he said to put numbers on the bikes in the parking lot and he'll judge and announce the winner when he comes in. A little personal story from the WOZ! "I did in fact get my "Rat Bike" to start today, after some working with the ignition system and the fuel system. You'll see it on Monday when it come to ABSN however my difficulty right now is to keep it running for 30 seconds all at one time." " went back to the rules, and discovered that the rules said that the motorcycle had to run for 30 seconds. Nowhere did it mention that the motorcycle had to run all 30 seconds at the same time, so I may be forced to start my Rat Bike several times and add the running time together to make my 30 second qualification run. No matter, it's all in fun, and it's all in the spirit of having a good time, and getting ready for the start of the riding season which is just around the corner." This is going to be fun! Bring out that old bike, and don't forget the helmets too! The rattier the better. Special trophies have been designed for the top winners....see you there. We will also be talking about Hillclimbing this meeting.........REX 97 Buell M-2 (M-3) 95 Buell S-2 92 Buell RSS 1200 Honda 360 Ducati Pocket bike Hog, Brag, American Thunderbike Club, CBX Club,Ducati owners, AMA, VJMC, American Sport BikeN, FCF, Bad Weather Bikers, Red Riders, Sacborg, NRA,Muzzleloaders, Yamaha TDM Riders, Kawasaki Drifter Club member, and the Victory Owners Club. |

This has nothing to do with motorcycles or motorcycling, but it needs to get to the everyday American. My wife is a laboratory operations manager at a county hospital. She received word from her management today that two hospitals, one on the east coast and one on the west coast, have been visited by so-called surveyers. When questioned about their activities the "surveyers" promptly departed and did not return. Hospitals all over the country are being warned about this, as it has very real terrorist and home security implications. Be vigilant. |

I was wandering around on the Superbike website and found this interesting- a few things "Opie" said about the Formula Extreme Buell you'll see at Daytona. http://www.amasuperbike.com/article.php?UID=DRCCOChJT99gzdcw2ZloACDnDQ1NjY&sc=11 53&aid=5332 |

Hi there fellow Buellers I have been a member for quite a while and haven't had much need to write in(until now!) I own a 1998 S3T with 37500klms on it I have had no major drama's until know! My bike has developed a rear cylinder miss,Yes I have tried changing the plugs and leads it has me baffled,I did give it a compression test which showed good compression in both cyclinders(don't remember exact figure but both were equal) so before I take it to the shop has any one else experienced this? I have the race air cleaner and ignition it has a Staintune muffler(aussie made)Buell race plug leads and screaming eagle plugs.Bike is ridden daily in all weather(no snow in Queensland Australia though) thanks for you help Jodie |

Jodie, your problem is obvious--somebody stole your perfectly good S3 and substituted an S1 with a long tailed frame! Seriously, I don't have a clue as to why one cylinder would suddenly check out and leave the other running ok. Are you certain it's just the one cylinder? What did the plug out of the back cylinder look like when you pulled it? Was it visibly different from the front plug? How about your sidestand switch? A bad one (and, given your mileage, yours could be getting old) can cause intermittent ignition cut-out that feels like a miss. rt maybe it's vegemite in the float bowl... |
