Ebear, thanks. I'll be happy to do whatever is needed from you. Just let me know how I can be of any help. Still trying to figure how I'm packing everything up. Luckily I have hiking gear(Small tent, and bag), so I just have to pack everything up good!! Might get a pack like Timbo from Al. Thanks guys!! Can't wait. |

Well...!!!!!Wonders never cease!! Our work with Laguna Seca(SCRAMP)seems to have achieved "Results in our Favor!!"Our person there,Mary J. called me this morning and she says she has gotten agreement that "Worst case Scenario "would be a 2-3 foot tall fence behind the Love Shack,but if the Fire Dept. goes her way there will only be small posts to mark spot like before!A 2-3 foot fence would still allow us to lower the veranda with NO obstruction!She has also said they looked at our plan and there will ALSO be a small bank for people to sit on and view the track unimpeded!!Sounds like everything we asked for!We all need to show our appreciation for all her work when we get there!
Along with this news I also got verification that the Camping Pass situation will be as in the past!
As long as our bikes fit in our sites we can utilize the Support Vehicle Pass to acquire the necessary armband for entry and exit of ALL our vehicles and Camper/visitors!
This means if you can contact one of us on your approach to the track we can guide you in and/or meet you at camping gate so as to get you fitted up with armbands.Once you have an armband you have unlimited access to the site including after midnight entry...(necessary for Sat. night Cannery Row Party entrance back through Front Gate which is closely guarded!)We will be posting or E-mailing Cell numbers as we get closer.
If you can't get ahold of us,or were on one of our Carmel Valley runs you can enter the track with your Race Passes and hike up towards the corkscrew,pass through the bridge,turn left and follow new trail up the hill to the Love Shack...When you get there ask someone to use the Support Vehicle pass.Go back to your vehicle and drive around to Corkscrew view Camping entrance,show pass,get bands,come up and we'll help unload bikes if your not on 'em allready!
Ill post more pics of Map and mark it up so you can find your way...YAAHHOOOOOO Seca,here we come!! |

Shazam (Sam), Cyclone (Frank) and Mike from the KCMOB plus myself have Brag tickets. Frank and Mike are Driving out from KC with the bikes trailered. Sam and I are flying into San Jose. We are looking for a hotel at this point. Looks like from what I have seen that we will be staying quite a bit away from Salinas as not much is left in regards to hotel rooms. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Keith,
I doubt U will find much out there in the way of rooms at this late date. I would suggest Santa Cruz, or north of Salinas along Hwy. 101. It is not uncommon for riders to come down from the San Jose area daily for the races. It is a bit of a pain, but U should be able to find some rooms there for sure. From San Jose, I would say the track is 1.5 hours away.
Also, get yourself on line and start checking the Motel 6 and other National chain sites right up until you leave. Keep trying for a room on line. Many people book rooms and then cancel at the last minute, or a few days before the races.

Matt,
Not sure as to exact times and date of our arrival. Sam and I are waiting for Frank and Mike to finalize thier plans at this point. They are the ones driving out with our bikes in tow. Should know very soon though. If we can find a couple rooms fairly close, Sam and I will definatelt take you up on the drink offer. You know we have never been ones to turn down a drink, at least when we don't have to ride afterwards! We will definately try to catch up with you and help you from getting lost again!

I was wondering if anybody knew of any camp grounds in the area? I am heading up there with a couple of friends and we are having trouble finding a cheap place to stay. I know there are unimproved camp sites at the track but one of my friends wants to have bathrooms and showers available. I am guessing those sites wouldn't have those

I am still in need of somebody with an empty spot on a truck or trailer to drag my M2 out there- anyone? I'll deliver the bike with some gas $$. I'll be up there with my wifes car but will need the bike while I am there... |

Brian, there are bathrooms and some showers at the track camp sites plus there are some portable showers too. There is certainly a shower within a short walking distance from every camp site there.
Offsite, there is a camp ground on Carmel Valley Road between Laureles Grade Rd and Hwy 1. Jerry Johnson stayed there one year and he liked it (don't remember the name, sorry). I'm not sure if it's strictly RV camping though.

Thanks for the info Sparky! We ended up getting a spot at Toro Park. The next dilemma is that we have 3 vehicles going. I was planning to take my bike, my friends were going to drive up in a car, and I have 2 other friends driving out from Park City UT. You only get one parking pass per site. Anybody know what the parking situation is like? Any safe over night parking? I'm really looking forward to this trip and riding rt1. |

Man I am stoked for this. If I don't make it then it's because Jim and his ex-hippy liberal hordes have assassinated me.  If Jim doesn't make it, well... don't ask. Talk about the ultimate odd couple. Be afraid! World peace could break out any minute. LOL.
How about those of us arriving on Thursday plan to convene somewhere in Monterey on Thursday evening? Not looking to spend big bucks on a fancy meal, just get together with friends and potential enemies. 
Maybe meet up at the Mucky Duck in Monterey, say around 6:30 PM?
