Picture time! First, the damage done when i wrecked my bike yesterday. I have linked them all because they are huge, and i am to lazy to resize. It was a beautiful day out, almost 60 degrees, and almost 500 bikers showed up. We roll out of Post Falls and through downtown Coeur d'Alene (for some reason i wound up leading a group of about 100 bikes the whole way to downtown Cd'A, i guess i was the only one who could read the map and ride at the same time, thanks tank bag map holder!) Our first bar stop is on 12th street, and after i grab a raffle ticket, i am on my way. I head north to on highway 51 for about and hour to the Crossroads, another bar (can you spot a theme yet?) and grab another raffle ticket and a drink. After i left the Crossroads, I went about 50 miles east on highway 54 to Curley's, yet another bar. Use Nu-finish #2 for the scratches - applying over and over - I can't get the gouges out of my tank, but almost all the scratches are gone after light sanding and buffing with Nu-finish use in conjunction with that scratch hiding color Black liquid wax made by Turtle Wax - apply this several times as well - alternating - lol - and in conjunction - the Nu-finish first - the timing cover costs 5 bucks for new plastic or 12 for a Chrome one, or more for design types like Crossroads, etc. - looks like minimal damage really - she'll be ok soon enough I bet! At least you are up and about. The damage looks like mine when someone pulled out in front of me almost two years ago. I replaced the timing cover with the basic harley sportster crome, replaced the fly shield and right side turn signal lens. Then buffed the tank out. cant even notice it unless you look closely. I got a badly sprained ankle and messed up a pair of boots. ( would have been my leg if not for the boots.) Bike was fixed before I was healed. Your pictures look just like my damage though. | ||

Where can I find this air filter set up that is on the below Blast?? I know its a K&N filter, but part #'s for the filter and metal tube would be a big help.  "Ride it till it seizes" Ski | ||

Not sure about the first one, looks like maybe a custom job (?) Maybe EZ knows. The second is (was) the Force prototype. IIRC, they never made very many, just the prototypes. It's pretty similar to the pro-series, though. Might want to give that one a look, as it's very easy to get your hands on. If you go that route, though, you're gonna need to brace it or risk the boot tearing. Or not, according to some... Personally, I'm still running the airbox, transforming it into a stack (sort of) this weekend, so I have no real experience with any of the above. Hope this helps... | ||

Trojan Horse - http://www.britnett.net/adrenalinmoto/listings/54.html - the CF styled Forcewinder for an M2 would probably be as light if not lighter than the pro-series unit in weight - cost about as much as a regular Forcewinder and would fit the Blast - and is the only one I'd recomend - the rest being far to heavy. Pricey - I'd go with a cool stack and stack filter myself - American Sport Bike used to sell a nice CF round unit (now sell a billet alum - twice the weight), but discontinued due to lack of interest, which is why I went to stack. call me crazy, but I never liked the look of the bike with that "hole" in it. I've always sorta planned on just using a drop in K&N as the stock airbox isn't that bad really... | ||

Naustin, i agree with you. I hate the big empty space left when you take out the airbox. But it does work very well with Grens bike, just because everything is so minimalist. I like minimalist  . Edit: Not a big fan of the scuba mask though. (Message edited by mutt2jeff on March 01, 2005) | ||

Naustin-You could always do what I'm going to do this weekend... Transform the stock airbox into a stack. Of course, then, I wouldn't have the only (probably the only) stock airbox in existence that will give a nice, satisfying "HUFF" when you let off. lol... *Tune in next week for more details... Same bat time, same bat channel...* | ||

Xb9rski: I really like the Pro-Series intake personally. It fits well and works great. Keeps the rain out of the carb too... don't ask.  Mutt2Jeff: Gonna name my bike Scuba Steve. Actually, a friend is giving me his Acerbis* so I'm gonna install it hopefully this weekend. call me crazy, but I never liked the look of the bike with that "hole" in it. I've always sorta planned on just using a drop in K&N as the stock airbox isn't that bad really... I agree - Can you just change the filter to say a KN and get some improved performance????? | ||

The K&N flows better than the stock filter, and has a much greater filter area than the pro-series, so it may even flow air better than the Pro-Series filter (we need to test that theory). But seat of the pants difference probably wouldn't be much. The pro-series is supposedly better, because it eliminates that crazy twist, even though it has a smaller filter. Seat of the pants wise, either intake will make virtually no difference until you're running a new exhaust. Even then, it's pretty negligible. Some will say the feel the difference. But I'll wager the just Hear a difference and convince themselves the money made an improvement. The pro series might be worth 1/2 a horsepower on the dyno over the stock. I'll bet a drop in K&N is just as good. Of course all this doesn't factor in the weight savings of the pro-series over the stock unit (assuming you don't have 3lbs. of bracing). The pro-series is lighter, so theoretically it should be WAY better.  | ||

Details - Catseye signals and 3rdeye mirrors on the red and crome timing covers, and Buell M2 black levors on both - if I'm lucky it will only be details from now on with these bikes - lol  Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ | ||

How are the cateyes compared to the CRGs? I've been thinking about ordering a set too... Those are the $10 mountain bike ones right? I was worried they wouldn't stand up to highway speeds. |
