Hello, I just bought a 98 Cyclone. It has been sitting for 90 days.I was trying to start the bike. Only will run on choke.Where do I start to look. Carb? I would guess. Do I need to remove carb and take apart? |

Sounds like your pilot jet is plugged. The carb is fairly easy to pull and clean. Just make sure you have the service manual. |

Waldo, I have the same problem in 20 to 40 degree weather but only until engine warms up substantually on my carburated M2. Maybe intake seals shrink somewhat from setting in the cold garage for weeks until engine heat swells them. I have offset this by heating the engine for a couple of hours with a small electric space heater prior to riding. engine starts right up with the choke for only a moment and I can ride right off. Just maybe this is your case also. Also I see your in the Phoenix area. Try and fine a person named Ronnie Ford at one of your local dealers. He sold me my M2 here in Utah before moving there. He's a Buell racer, very friendly and very knowledgable in Buell. Hope this helps. Bob T. (Message edited by Bob_Thompson on February 17, 2005) |

I would check and change the jests on the carb. What if they are still factory jets and you changed the exhaust or intake that could be the problem. I would also check the plugs. They might be messed up and only fire when the mix is rich. Good Luck |
