Here is the info that I got from some friends on another board that I chat on: This past Saturday, Feb 19th a fellow rider, Tim Nordel Jr, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Hwy 441 in Leesburg, Fl. This accident was very unfortunate, Tim, only 17 years old, rode an rc51 and was doing a stand up at a high rate of speed at dusk. A car pulled out to cross the road who could not see Tim because of his headlight shining up. Tim died at the scene. His father who is a Lake County Deputy Sheriff shared Tim’s love of motorcycles, they rode together and went to the local bike nights together. (On a personal note the driver of the car is a good friend of mine, and a fellow rider, who is having a lot of emotional problems due to this and could also use your prayers) Tim was a senior at Wildwood High school and will be missed by his family, classmates, friends, and fellow riders. I‘m posting this for two reasons: First we all need to ride safely, within reason, and help other riders from making unnecessary mistakes; Second, to show support for Tim’s family through a group ride or at least prayer. Our local sport bike group that Tim is a member of, EOS, will be leading the procession from the church to the burial spot, (Message edited by vegasbueller on February 22, 2005) | ||

This has been getting talked up big time on the EOS board. I'm a member of their east coast group. A reminder guys of why we do not stunt on public roads. | ||

Yeah Cataract, he is out there near you somewhere. I chat with the Orlando guys on SBN often now trying to get info and things lined up for the big move this summer. It is a tragedy for sure. | ||

A sad loss for all, with the possible exception of the person that convinced him it was OK to ride like that. Behind EVERY 'accident' you will ALWAYS find the real reason this stuff occurs - there is a well disguised person with the anti=social view that they need to do everyone else 'in' in order to make themselves seem better.(at least to themselves) That person will get others so stirred up or confused that they end up with not enough attention left to be fully aware of the surroundings, and these insidiously caused 'accidents' then ensue. Others in his riding group should look into this, someone's likely "next" All that aside, it always sucks when we lose a fellow rider. Dan - don't beat yourself up for that first post, if it wasn't mostly true this one unfortunate time, he'd still be with us To Tim - see ya next time around, little brother. Left, that is my thoughts exactly. Only difference is I've not posted in the post about him because I know I will let it be known how I feel stunting in traffic is and that it is his fault for this. This is not the time for those posts over there. It's tragic, yes, but at the same time as I feel bad for him and his family I also am mad at him for what he was doing at the time. Had he not been wheeling at 110mph at night this would not have happened. | ||

this coming from another stuntrider, it always hurts to lose a family member. i also feel sorry for the driver who hit him. My father was a milktruck driver and a motorcycle jumped out from behind another car as it turned when he was pulling out and he ended up running over the guy as he layed it down. the rider was killed and my dad never really did get over it. Knowing that you did that to somebody haunts your forever, especially if you ride as well. he seems like he was a great kid and im sure hes earned his wings. prayers for both. brian | ||

I have a lot more sympathy for the poor driver that has to live with the memory of that incident. | ||

And we had another one here: 16-year-old dies in motorcycle crash An Eldorado High School student was killed Wednesday evening when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a semi-truck near Nellis Air Force Base. http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2005/Feb-18-Fri-2005/news/25893706.html I really feel for the parents that have to bury a teenager.
