Okay.. my 2 cents on Force.. Had the force pipe on my M1. Sounded awesome!! I hated the fact that the black jet coated pipe came with a orange coated clamp mount, but I could live with that. Two months later, was cleaning the bike and noticed the clamp had snapped. Called the company and said they would send out a new clamp. Got the new clamp and 1 month later that broke. Fabricated a clamp from Home Depot parts and it lasted till I sold the bike. For what it's worth;for the price of the pipe I shouldn't have to fabricate a part to make it work. You shouldn't have to add extra welds to make sure it doesn't crack. I will never buy another force product, but that's just my 2 cents. |

I agree Tatsu, but for the price I got this, I couldn't refuse. Right now i have the D&D slip-on connected to the Force header. I know you couldn't do that with the tubers, so at least I got a cool expensive header! LOL! HOpefully with a Techlusion box I can tune this pipe on the 9R, maybe get a baffle too. We'll see. |

it still makes your ears bleed with a baffle. it just takes some of the edge off, BARELY!!! so they can hear you from 5 miles away instead of 5 1/2. and also, nallin and others say it runs better with it in. so thats why. |

It certainly does run better "for the street" with it in. There is a noticeable power loss from 3500-6K with it in, but a very noticeable power gain below that. Better for the street, remove it for the track (if they don't make you put it back in ). |

I ran it both ways and couldn't really 'feel' a difference. |

Misato, hows it going, Listen did you or anyone else have thread with help on installing a force header ,I got one coming for my 12 and would like to do a bunch of reading up on it before it arrives , to get a handle on it, Thanks alot all.... |

Search for a thread called "Force Install Finished"... Also... Mine broke in LESS THAN A WEEK on my twelve. Take a look at Misato's website and you will see where they break. You would do well to re-inforce the mounting brackets for the chin spoiler before you mount the pipe. |

Thanks alot M1... I think one might have to weld ALL the way around the front pipe , and reenforce it everwheres else can`t hurt, and perhaps rubber mount the brackets to the frame...I`m not sure, But I`m sure :-) I wd. like to get a handle on this before I do mount it |

A little bit of a stumble if I open it too far through 2K to 3K but as long as I roll it on "properly" it's no big deal. I think it still makes a little more power in that range, I just have to work a little to get it. Everywhere else is SWEET. Oh, and SOUNDS FREAKING AWESOME! I am going to throw a race ECM on it. I believe the fact that the stock ECM still thinks the valve is there is causing a good deal of it. |

Anyone know what type of metal the Force pipe is made of? |

hey, there's a good question. Especially with all the talk of welding, and adding ( Steel) gussets. I've been following this thread with interest, and would like to know the answer to that one as well. |

I have Aluminum, Titanium and an Aluminum/Ti alloy I could use to weld with. I'm thinking I'll just use the Aluminum though. My plans ar to re-inforce the rear side of the front mount, the "triangle" mount for the spoiler, the side mounts for the apoiler, and I'll box the front mount. I was also considering running one strip of steel from the front mount to the rear mount at the bottom, but I don't think I will, just in case it snaps at the front and pole vaults me. |

So are you saying the pipe is aluminum? Or aluminized ( finish )? I am curious, as I would like to be able to throw some help out whenever possible, lord knows you guys have given me great info ( from this site ), I am a welder/ fabricator by trade, but this aluminum titanium deal is new to me. I once repaired a " titanium" exhaust for some fancy ducati that turned out to be stainless ( the owner thought it was titanium ). Of course the weight is a dead give away. If the Force system is titanium, I would'nt be much help. If stainless, I would say that from the pictures and ideas tossed about here, you are not gonna get any longevity from you attempts to fix or prevent failure. The steel gussets have a different heat/cool cycle (simple explanation ) than the stainless. You will get fatigue like fractures, most likely at the weld's edges. Some of the failures of the material ( as viewed by the pictures ) appear to be ones of stress. This could be from a combination of heat/cool cycle and vibration. It appears the alloy is not the right one for this particular application. IMHO |

I have no idea what it is... I was saying that I have tose metals to use for brackets and re-inforcement. I think it's aluminum for the pipe, and some sort of sheet metal for the brackets... I don't know though, that's why I'm asking. |

Hey Noface how does the force header and the D&D slip-on work and sound? I have the force pipe and muffler and TFI box and could not get it to work...engine light came on spuddering, stalling in any case just wondering how the header and can work together? |

the D&D sounds a lot different with the Force header. It has a lot sharper, crisper sound compared to when it was mated to the stock header. It's hard to describe. You could probably throw the term raspy in there too. It also runs lean with only the race ECM. Has a big hole in the powerband at the bottom and at the top. This says to me that the header is probably the main component in the Force "system". But I could be wrong. It happens a lot... LOL. The Force pipe is made of mild steel. Probably 22ga or less, as it's thinner than the 20ga sheetmetal I have lying around. To weld it you will need to grind off the JetHot coat, as it spatters the weld all over, and it starts flaking off. I dunno how anyone would weld aluminum to it. I wouldn't try it. I'd use mild steel to reinForce it. |

Running lean with the race ecm...That is the route I was going to take, because I cant get the TFI to work I dont want to run lean with the race ecm do you have dyno charts with the header and D&D? |

@ All_me: Why can't you get the TFI work? I am going to build the Force headers in combination with a Doma muffler (Jardine like) and I know already that my XB9R is going to run lean, so I need a TFI or Powercommander. But it seems to me that most of the XB9 people have a TFI and also working (wit good settings). Here in the Netherlands I would be the first with that kind of a set up, and I want to ride asap and not messing around with settings all the time.. |

Okay guys, Which wd. be better to use with this force pipe a new tech. box or the power commander for the 2001 etc. buells?? (xb12r) |

I would say they would both work the same. They just have different interface's to deal with the tuning issues. For me, I can get a Pwr Commander and O2 sensor for half what I can get a new TFI box. I had a Pwr Commander on my 9R for awhile, and it worked just fine. I ended up selling it as it did not provide any additional gains over the race ECM with just K&N, and D&D slip-on. I never envisioned I'd get one of these Force pipes so cheap and need one, so I let it go. I do believe that to get good results from either TFI or a Pwr Commander, you will need to put the bike on a dyno equipped with an exhaust gas analyzer to get it right. |
