Fred: I went to the site for power commanders No Joy sorry ...[www.powercommander.com] if I am not mistaken your bike has an ECM controlled valve on the muffler for "tuning" maybe thats the '04 & later bikes before I yanked or diddled with that stock ECM get a shop manual! 1. it may be re-programmable (99'lightnings were) 2. It may be close enough to the earlier bikes that you can use a PC3 I read that it (PC3) controls the pulse width to the injector nozzles hence the mixture Power commander says that they dropped the buell boxes because the VDO controls "tended to be inconsistent" The one for the 2001 X1 has 6 connections 4 are for the injector valves 1 to the TPS and ground the PC3 can be had on Ebay around 200$ PC2 changes the INPUT signals. I dont know how well that will work An anonomus wrench told me that you can move the TPS to richen the mixture I would confirm all of the above before proceeding. The ECM should be able to adjust for some changes, I just posted to the force winder install, I think that a pipe by it's self will not make that much difference but YMMV
