I contacted Fontana Village about rooms. I will be calling them again in a week or two. Anyone still interested in the trip?! It's July 30th though August 6th. I will be calling to block out rooms/cabins. That place fills up FAST, and I prefer to plan ahead. If you join the "Dragon Slayers Club", which is free, you get a 25% discount on rooms and 15% on cabins. Please don't feel like you HAVE to stay there. If you find something else that suits you better, I'd say take it. I chose Fontana because of the things I've heard about it from people that have stayed there, it's all paved(Not all places to stay are, and I know that first hand), on site restaurants, swimming pools, fishing..hell,all kinds of stuff. It's good for people with families and big enough for social"after riding" gatherings.I appreciate ALL the PM's I've been getting from people willing to help out to make sure this thing happens. ANY help is appreciated and welcomed. The closer the time comes, the more help I'll need. The best thing for now is to get as many people that you know to go to this thing! I, personally, don't care what they ride. I'd like this to be a big group that just loves to ride the twisty stuff! Buells, H-D's, Metrics, whatever, ask them to come along. One other thing I ask is if any of you know of some good side trips, that can be done in a day, please post them. The Dragon kicks @ss, but a change of pace and scenery is always welcomed. And after running the "Dragon" your thighs will be sore from all the butt sliding on the seat, you'll welcome a straighter road! I'll keep updating. Thanks! |

If you check www.tailofthedragon.com, our event should be listed under Event Calender 2005 within the next few days. I still hope people are interested. |

I've been visiting sites of other groups that are going to be staying at Fontana Village throughout the riding season, and man, it's filling up FAST. I will call them this week, probably Wed. to block rooms/cabins and see about the discounted rates. I'll keep posting even though no one seems to be reading. |

Thanks Ingemar. At least I know someones listening! Paul from Gainesville H-D/Buell emailed me and also seems into the trip as well. Says he's going to try to hook you up with a bike too?! Pretty sweet! www.tailofthedragon.com has our event listed under their 2005 Calendar of Events. I just got off the phone with Fontana Village. Their people that handle the bookings were out for the day, but I will be calling again tomorrow to set it up and block out rooms and cabins. I was told that they have a pretty good selection of rooms and cabins available at this time for that week. I'll block out a few of each kind and was told that it would last until the end of March at which time any unrented units would be out back up for rent to the public. Again, I hope the interest that was shown at the start of this idea returns. I, for one, would like to meet people from different areas that have the same passion for riding and for their bikes. I'll keep updating as I get more information in. |

I am listening too. I can't sign up because I do not know what the future holds at my current job, but I might be attending. Thanks for all of the information. Chris |

Hey, I appreciate all that are listening. I know jobs are a concern for everyone too. My best advice is to try to hook up with someone or some people you know, make a trip out of it and share he cost of the travel and rent. No one has to stay for the whole thing. Come for a few days if you can swing it. Heck, I bet some people on this site that only know each other through this site could get a cabin or room and split the cost. They also have a campground for those that want to save some money and tent it. There are also a lot of other options as far as places to stay. I'll probably post those as well in the near future. |

Rocket, I'll be up for at least that weekend. I doubt I'll be able to make it during the week because I'm taking off for the Home Coming. I'll try to make it a long weekend. |

I'm listening but not hearing what you're saying But on a serious note, I'd love to go but timely doesn't allow. I'll be there with another group from BadWeb starting Memorial Day weekend. I'm also hoping to make the Colorado Adventure in August. Just waiting on the football schedule in April. |

Excellent! I spoke with Fontana Village today and got the ball rolling on cabin/room rentals. Blocked some out and just need to iron out a few more things and then I'll post what I've blocked out. There is a pretty good price break for joining the Dragon Slayers Club, for which I can say that anyone that rents a room or cabin that has been blocked out for the Event will get the discounted rate!! I'll post what's available, prices, number of units, how long they'll be blocked out for and how to go about renting within a day or two. |

Rocket.... Before you commit to Fontana Village, check out some of these properties for rent: Rental Houses The prices are MUCH better than hotel rooms. We're renting one for the May trip. The entire house (sleeps six) is $125/night. Also look at the lodging area on tailofthedragon.com Just some thoughts for ya! Dennis |

Those are nice places! With the Dragon Slayer Club discount, Fontana Village is VERY close to most of those prices and cheaper than some. The reason I picked the Village is because I'm hoping for a large group and wanted a place for everyone to be able to hang out and not have to travel to get back to their cabins or rooms. Plus there are kids and families coming and there has to be something for them to do. But if I ever go with a smaller group, I'll be checking those other rentals out. www.tailofthegragon.com is one of my favorite sites. My trip is listed on their 2005 Events Calendar. |

When you call to reserve a room or cabin, ya tell them you're with the Braggin' at the Dragon 2005 group and you'll get the discounted rate. When you go there to check in, you'll fill out a sheet and they give you the Card then. It's also used at some of the restaurants in the area and a few stores give discounts also with the card. Remember, the rooms and cabins get "unblocked" as of March 18th, and then the discount is gone, and so will the rest of the rental units cause that place fills FAST!! But if anyone decides to go after the cut off date, there are other places to stay in the surrounding areas. As for the big cabin, as it stands for now, I have some relatives riding up from Atlanta to join us.But that may change, but I won't know till right about the time of the trip. |

How much would it be for just one bed? I will be by myself and really don't care who I am roomed with. Cheaper is better. Give me a ballpark figure. |
