Alright everyone, I have installed my race kit and XB12 airbox installed on my XB9S. What is my next cheapest engine performance mod besides the 1050cc or 1200cc bore kits. I don't have 2 grand laying around as of yet to bore mine to a 12. So if you have any information for me please post it. Thanks Mitch |

Cut the top of the airbox off with a dremel and run studs up through the airbox base to hold the hat on top of the air filter. The open air filter element (under the airbox outer cover only) appears to add a couple of hp and only costs a few dollars. The TFI unit ~$245 adds adjustability to the fuel injection, smooths out the power and adds a couple of hp. Pull the snorkel feeding the airbox through the left side of the frame if you haven't already. I choose to cut it and leave a small piece at the top to seal the airbox base to the frame. Be forewarned that the airbox mod adds a lot of intake noise. xbolt12 |

I'm assuming you have race intake air filter and race exhaust? I know this isn't what you may be looking for but I'd look at suspension before engine tweaks - unless you're only looking at straight line speed and not interested in improving handling/cornering. That's where these things really shine! |

If you don't have an aftermarket exhaust yet I'd look into that first because without it all airbox mods will not have their full effect. |

Can't recommend the track one way or another - you might ring them up to see if track days are offered for Motorcycles. Looks like they have racing though http://www.noproblemraceway.com Motorcycle threads: http://noproblemraceway.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x?a=frm&s=3576041581&f=4746029402 Here's a note from their motorcycle discussion board: Insurance rates caused the cancellation of the 2004 open track Mondays at NPR. However, a group from New Orleans has negotiated insurance coverage to host MONTHLY track days in 2005. You can contact the road course manager, Winston Landymore, at (985) 369-3692. He can put you in touch with the group.

Wheels, I see you're in LA, check for track days in TX at www.lonestartrackdays.com or http://www.ridesmart.info/. I'll be at the March 14th RideSmart trackday. If you're thinking about coming to that one, PM me. |
