A few months ago I got a cd from Intwine. I really liked it and one day one of my co workers was with me in the car while the cd was playing. He mentioned the band was dutch. I was flabbergasted. I really never like music from my own country, but this one is different (read: good instead of crap). Compare it to Nickelback, but I think Intwine is more melodious (if that's the correct word?). Anyway, just wanted to brag about the first dutch rock band I really like. Just listened to a few live songs from the internet and they are pretty good live too. |

You didn't like Golden Earring? |

Nah. They were not bad though and I do like some of their songs, but generally not my taste. Golden Earring is, I must admit, one of the very few dutch bands that don't sound dutch. Truly with most of the dutch music, even when I have never heard the song before, it takes me less than 10 seconds to recognize it as dutch (before they sing). Is Intwine known in the States? I mean, is it available in the stores over there? Just curious ... |

I don't know if it is available in the states but I was in The Netherlands last year and bought it over there...I really like their stuff. They have a cool web site too: http://www.intwine.nl/ |

That is COOL Lovematt! I didn't bother posting the website because it is all in dutch and most of you guys won't understand what its about. But you can look at all the pretty pictures though Which one did you get? Their first album is called Intwine, their second (and latest) is called Perfect. I just got a live recording called "The Pure Session". |

Glitch, Only Steve Gaines could play that properly. Anything else wouldn't do it justice. Oke, I'm biased but I'm a giant Skynyrd fan. Team, honestly I admit I have never heard of Beth Hart. I just looked up the website though and listening to a few samples it just might be worth it! (Message edited by ingemar on February 11, 2005) |

Actually, only Allen Collins plays it properly. He was the one who did all the lead on the album. |

Gross! You said Nickelback. What's next Creed? Check out Clutch. Not many listen to them but their newest CD (Blast Tyrant) was often referred to as album of the year last year and rightfully so. All of their CDs are awesome. I like Ween too. So are you saying Intwine sounds American? Even their voices? Interesting. |

Walter Trout is an incredible American guitarist who plays most of the time in Europe and is booked by an agency out of the Netherlands. I guess they have better taste in music. We get Ashley Simpson 8^( |

Ingemar, Actually I have both of those...didn't hear about the live one yet though. Is it good? I have a buddy of mine that is stationed in Capelle (near Gouda) that I have asked to send me good stuff he hears about over there. I really like The Netherlands...every time I go there I find a new dimension to this thriving culture. |

Oke, I'm biased but I'm a giant Skynyrd fan. That makes two of us. Southern Rock makes me think of simpler times. Runnin' 'round on th loose. No cares. |

I stand corrected. You're right of course. That was Collins. Gaines wasn't even part of the band back then. I was actually talking about the live version from the Freebird Movie, when Gaines and Collins play it together. That's what I watch all the time so it has become leading for me. But even then I should have mentioned them both. Glitch, I see some good times coming up when I'm over there in the summer. I don't play myself, but I love listening and talking about it. I'm sure you can come up with some good ol' southern stuff I have never heard before. |

Blubak, Krokus is dutch too. But you're going way back in time man! I'm only 33 so when I was in my crib they had their best times. They never kept their fame like Lynyrd for instance, and were never played on the radio when I got older. Something a little different: Has someone seen Dan Tyminski and Ron Block on Crossroads Guitar Festival? I think that is one of the better performances during the festival and I looked him up on the net. How is Alison Krauss + Union Station? Or his solo album Carry me across the mountain? Is it the same as he plays live on that festival with Ron Block? I might need to get me these albums then ... |

Ingemar, Intwine IS cool! I'd never know they were Dutch from listening to them...not that that's a BAD thing! They're no Soundgarden (who is?), but very listenable. Also love Alison Krauss. My wife is really into the American Roots music (Hillbilly music...Hell Yeah!). DJKaplan, Just flew back from Aruba (Dutch connection) on the same plane with the Marshall Tucker Band! Spoke with a couple of the guys...very friendly. 12Bolt, Love CCR, but they're from...California! I always used to think they were from some backwoods Southern swamp too! Some of my current favorite Southern Rock? Nashville Pu$$y! http://www.nashvillepussy.com/ Yee Hah! Hmmm.. Cowboy Mouth.. If just for a good time live band.. Blue Oyster Cult - They're still out there, paying, as a matter of fact, if you get their 'Heaven Forbid' album, I've always felt the song 'Damaged' was for us(Buellers).. even if they never said it was. For those that liked it a little harder edged.. Judas Priest are about to release a new studio album.. and start a world tour. Wonder if they'll do it 'old style' Big, Loud, Bright, Shakin'.. or do what most bands do now. Little if any show, just play as short a set as possible and take the money and run? Time will tell.. DJK, Yep, the same. I've got my "Alex Chilton and his influences" playlist - Box Tops, Big Star, Replacements, Paul Westerberg solo stuff, Tommy Stinson/Perfect, etc. on the mp3 player. Jay, If you like Nashville Pu(ss)y try out some Drive by Truckers. |

Does anyone remember Primus?? The first time I heard this I almost drove off the road trying to see through the tears of laughter: http://www.thesonglyrics.com/p_song_lyrics/primus_lyric1.html Les Claypool is a wicked bass player at any rate, even if he does some really weird stuff |

Hey.. I still have some Anthrax to drop in the CD player every now and then too! Them along with Quiet Riot. I hate it when these guys show up on the "classic" radio station. Makes me feel old! |
