I'll probably get the baffle then. I think I need some ATM. It stumbles from 2K-3K. I think I have the TFI set too rich so I'll crank it back some more and see what it does. |

Blake if this is out of line please delete. I just got a email from Keith Code's California Superbike school scheduled for Firebird Feb 18th and 19th saying they have a lot of openings for both days and are willing to drop the price by $100 discount/refund for each referral that wants to go. As I am already paid up and going friday, if anyone wants to sign up feel free to use me as a referral and save the $100. I paid full retail and am not getting anything out of this. Just passing on a deal to be had. But you have to give them a name as a referral at time of sign up. DAVE |

Wish I could Dave, I REALLY do but funds are really tight and I have no idea what my work schedule is yet. However, if I have the time off I will come down with Camera gear and see what kind of track pics I can get. |

Mr "W" please be my guest. I will be riding one of their 2003/2004 fleet bikes. Since they have not taken delivery of their 2005 bikes yet. I will be the old guy that about four cows gave up their lives to make my leathers. But I will have on my Buell helmet. |

I should run down there and have a beer with you guys just to see what my bike does down there with the "mostly tuned" Force pipe... I'm doing the next trackday at Firebird so I wanna make sure it'll run good at that elevation before I get there. |

Hi All. I've been lurking around the board for a while now, and decided to finally introduce myself. Mostly because I need some help... Anyway.. I'm Bill, I live in the far North Valley and I've had my 2000 S-3 for three years now. It was a factory demo bike, so it was used and well abused, but I like it a lot, and having VIN number one means I get the priveledge of having my VIN number in the owners manual. I think it's cool... So last weekend I decided to replace my leaky rocker box gaskets. No big deal, except I dropped a spark plug as I was cleaning it and shattered it. There begins my tale of woe... Not being a big fan of "Genuine Harley" parts, I decided to go aftermarket. I finally found a local place that sells the recommended NKG plugs, got them home and installed, and the bike won't idle. This morning I went against my best judgement and picked up the scorned champion 8809 plugs since they were the only other thing I could find local. Same problem. Replaced one of them with the good 10R12 I had and it helped. Okay, so fine, I'll get the damn harley plugs. Well a call to my local dealers has the parts guys talking to me like I'm an idiot and tring to sell me the 6R12s. It seems no one in town sells the 10r12s... So here's my question... Where do Phoenix people buy their damn sprk plugs? I was hoping to ride a bit before this next storm hits, but it's not looking so good. Thanks for any help, I need to try to be more social here... Bill |

Bill, I'm sorry I'm not a tuber guy so I can't be much help but I KNOW bart can help you... Stick around till he see's your post. He's a tuber rider... OK didn't mean for that to sound funny. LOL Ethan, congrats on getting your bike! Eliz is itchin for a trip, so we'll be out to Phoenix for a visit with everyone probably before Springfast. Or, we might go the other direction to Riverside. I'm stil trying to decide on Springfast. I really want to go, but I have a couple of problems. I'm not that great of a rider for one, the S3 is a better bike than I am a rider, and I have a bad right wrist that limits me to about 45mins to an hour before I HAVE to stop and shake it out a bit. Still... I might... I'd really like to meet some of the local Buellers. b |

Bill you need to check the gap on the plugs you installed. It sounds to me as if the gap on the NGK's is not correct, this would cause weak spark which will affect the idle. If you reset the gap on the plugs to what it calls for in the book and are having the idle problem, then go to NGK's website and check their recommended gap. In this case, NGK recommends the DCPR8E #4179 .040gap. Try that and see before you go all over trying to find plugs. |

I gapped them at .040. I'm questioning my choice of plugs, though. I had origionally gotten the dcpr9 plugs as the Knowlege Vault said they were the equivelent to the 10R12. One way or the other it seems I'm going to have to make the 20 mile trip into town. What really sucks is that I have $10 worth of useless plugs in garage now. I think I'll have to start making sure I have beer before I work on my bike... |

Are you certain that all of your connections are complete and solid? I understand when you switched to the one old plug that it ran better, but I am wondering if with everything else you did, something didn't quite get put back together 100%, add to that that fact its new plugs, the situation may just be compounded. |

Yep... Did all that. It started raining up here, so I'm not going out on the bike after all Too bad, the weather is otherwise great. I'm going to go fool around with it some more. It sure seems like I shouldn't be having these problems... |

Ok, maybe I should have expanded on that, are you certain the problem is with the plugs and not something else that got taken apart like an intake leak or an exhaust leak? |

BTW Don, are you interested in selling me your old set of headers for Jet Hot coating to minimize downtime? |

All I took off was the rocker boxes, but I did have a lot of electrical connectors undone. But you're right I really should shake those down. Thanks for your time and advice. I'll look forward to seeing you around here sometime. |

Wycked... No, I plan on polishing them and then running some tests to see what the driveability and power is like with the stock header and the Force exhaust. I REALLY like the look of the stock header, but I REALLY like the sounds of the force exhaust. Sorry Bro... |
