I have a 2003 xb9sl with race ecm, muffler, and air filter. Does anyone have suggestions for a slip on exhaust. I would like a bit more power and sound. What else can i do for power without going crazy? | ||

the drummer is a little louder but is soposably alaround the best aftermarket pipe, but the d&d is close and it has alot more in the sound department, the jardine is the cheapest and has decent sound and decent performance, but its all on preferance of the rider i guess. If you're broke like me, try this. I love the result. I did it after someone else here suggested it. Cut along the red lines (not cutting the first pipe, fill in the second and third pipe, and weld back together. Sound and performance is awesome. Filling the third chamber gives just enough backpressure where you don't lose the entire bottom end like my wifes Jardine, but opens up the top end nicely.  | ||

The tube running along the top of the pic / right side of the bike which bends and exits the can would be pipe 3. The pipe running down the center is pipe 2. Pipe one connects to the header and exits into the rear chamber of the muffler. Basically we welded the holes of 2 & 3 shut from the rear looking forward... Then cut the exit pipe so it was protruding half way into the rear of the muffler. D&D = $$$ Jardine = $$$ Drummer = $$$ Again I'm PO' and happy with the mod, it cost me $20 to do... jardine is to my mind more of a top end pipe,for the price its very good value,but you need to decide what type of riding you do,and how much you want to spend,and go accordingly  | ||

Jardine on my 12. light weight, much better wheelies, loud sweet tone. I either need a quieter helmet or extend the pipe to direct the sound away. | ||

The Jardine is a great "Bang for the Buck" pipe! I stock them too! Personally I prefer the D+D, you retain the ability to jack the bike on the muffler like stock and the chin fairing brackets are welded right on the muffler instead of extra bracket kit like the Jardine and I like the sound better. These are just my opinions. The Jardine is MUCH lighter than any other of the aftermarket pipes and less than 1/2 the price. | ||

Thanks Daves, The lack of lbs was my main reason for getting the Jardine. To me; the lighter the bike = more fun. Yes, it does make a noticeable difference. | ||

I personally have a Drummer and love it. Really great sound/tone, not too loud, stock chin fairing mounts, and it retains the stock jackpoints. The only problem I've had with my Drummer is that the paint is coming off at the rear and the pipe is starting to rust a bit, but that's probably due to the salt/snow mix around here. If I didn't have the Drummer and I was going to buy a new pipe I'd go for the Jardine. Sounds good, super-light, makes good mid to top end power, and is dirt cheap. The only downside is the loss of jackpoints, but for the ~$200 you save over the D&D you can just buy a front-end stand. Then again, if you just have to have it loud, the D&D is probably the way to go. Mike L. '04 XB12R | ||

Kevin is selling Drummers in a loud version now if that's what you want. Same price, just less packing inside. Personally, I like the original sound the best. Loud enough to turn heads, but not loud enough to •••• off the neighbors. | ||

I Just installed the Jardine RT 1 and it sounds awsome, I got a little tired of hearing (Is that thing running ? ) It was a cheap way to go but it did the job! $250 beans or so . | ||

the jardine is a big improvment over the buell exhausts sound wise,you just tend to lose some of the low end thrust that was there before,top end though is deff improved,revs out much quicker,wuld like to hear some of the other pipes that are available,just dont see that many buells about with aftermarket exhausts on | ||

Yes I noticed that the throttel wheelies in first gear has gone by the wayside ,wondering how to counter that? | ||

xb12.....the problem is because as standard the buell 12 exhaust works so well because of the inter active valve arrangment,any aftermarket pipe will lose on low end compared to that,the jardine more so because of its top end bias,a jardine on a 9 its not so bad,on a 12 though i would think its very noticable...... as to how to improve the situation.... welcome to the world of modification nd testing... although from the messages ive had off trenchtractor it seems there is a way to get more out a jardine in the lower rev range,its up to brad to divulge the information though,its not my baby | ||

I can't speak for everyone but my 12 runs better now with the D&D then it did stock.Even the bottom end feels alot better.I had the Drummer and it was OK but not what the D&D has to offer.Not knocking the Drummer great pipe but not as good as the D&D on a 12. |
