I know some others had this same problem but I missed the solution. My bike has a force winder and V&H pipe and was rejetted but it does sputter and spit occasionally at low RPM/s. I did just discover the plugs were not tight, but it still is spitting, maybe not as bad? Should I go for new plugs, noticed Autolight in there, any suggestions? penick "AT" nettally.com | ||

My 2000 cyclone used to sputtered and spit sometimes at low rpms,but seemed to do better after it was warmed up.That was with the stock cv carb,I put a Makuni on it and it cleared my problem up.I run BUELL 10R12 plugs in my Buell and they seem to work fine,not sure about running other plugs,put a new set of plugs in,thats the cheapest fix if it works...good luck. | ||

Did you see Aaron's notes about the Forcewinder in the KV? Use the 10R12 plugs. What kind of jetting are you running? | ||

Sounds like it still might be running a little lean at low rpm or it may have a vacuum leak. My 00 M2 still occasionally backfires through the carb at low rpm (I heard it called a "stackfire" here - I like that). | ||

try adjusting the low speed jet some more -- you can get rid of approx 95% of the spitting that way (on my Y2K MaDeuece, at any rate) | ||

I had the same bike, same problem. I went through all the scenarios of likely problems problems. Plugs, jetting, intake seal, gasket leaks, oil overfill etc. The blow by continued. I had it in for service three times when, finally, a good mechanic pulled the heads and realized there was a torn valve guide seal. It was replaced and the problem was solved. | ||

Now, by "sputter and spit", you aren't by chance referring to the classic "Keihin cough", are you? | ||

My M2 does the same thing, but it got better after installing a Blast pilot jet #48 (I think). Rode Sunday, and after 300 miles it probably only coughed three or four times and never that bad. It was worse with the stock setup and stock muffler. |
