Steve, One concern you may want to consider: What prevents the slider fixture from being rotated around the tube upon impact/sliding ground contact? Only the very tightly clamped connection of slider fixture to frame tube, right? I'd caution that putting anything compliant between the slider fixture and frame will significantly increase the likelyhood of the slider fixture being twisted around the frame tube. If you are going to use that style of frame slider fixture, you might best plan on marring the paint under its clamping connection just a bit. Additionally, in keeping with BadWeB's need to strictly enforce rules concerning the offering of products at material cost like Bill (Reepicheep) did with his XB9R speedo sensor electronic filter, we need to know your material costs. Everyone must play by the same rules, you and me included. If you have no idea of quantity, simply estimate the cost for the worst case, say a quantity of ten which will outfit five bikes. I assume the slider mount/fixture will be machined from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy bar stock. Should be fairly simple to estimate material cost. Estimating a 2"x 3"x 4" = 24 IN3 raw 6061-T6 bar stock per piece and so approximately 2.4LB per piece or 4.8 LB per pair. Estimating raw material cost at a very liberal $5/LB, we then have $24 per pair. Correct/adjust any of my assumed values above as required for improved accuracy. Not sure what size bar stock is available nor what added meat you may need to facilitate machining. How tough would it be to come up with a design that would interface the frame at a "T" junction? |

Not to be a Prick, but are you sure that with all of BRAGS rules and junk that a Husband and Wife can be officers in the same Club. I know you can't be an Officer for more than one Club. Thought I'd ask, cause I have no idea. |

NN, It's all yours. I'm sure that there isn't a BRAG rule about that, but if there is... You two can just be REALLY good friends. JT |

Blake, I have no problem making a bill of materials with a cost breakdown. I'll post that as soon as I get a chance to get a material quote from the local Metal Express for a quantity of 20. Preliminary costs on the aluminum is $8.77 Each for a quantity of 20 pieces 2.0 x 2 1/2 x 4". This is internet pricing from Metal Express. I *usually* get better prices than this. I'll also contact the local fastener supplier for the 1/4-20 x 1.25 Stainless SHCS, and the 5/8-11 x 1.5" Stainless SHCS. the pucks themselves will be the buyers responsibility. They can be had from kneedragers.com for about $14 a piece(thanks Lake Bueller for the heads up). The problem with making one that cross between 4 tubes is this... I've have to make seperate ones for 98 and earlier and 99 and later bikes. And whatever other differences in the welds/gussets, etc... |

Steve....ignore my pm that I sent you. It turns out the clutch isn't my tech problem. It's a transmission problem. |

Uh oh! Is it serious? |

Not too serious. From what Al at American Sport Bike told me, it isn't something I need to fix today. Basically, the first gear dogs are starting to wear. This causes the trannie to "jump" in first gear. Because it's intermittent, I shouldn't be loosing 1st gear any time too soon. I'll look at getting the parts sometime in March. It's more of a PITA to fix. What has me more pissed is that I had this thing COMPLETELY torn down last winter. I thought the problem my be transmission related. I brought the transmission to my friendly neighborhood Buell dealer (not Appleton, Dave wasn't there yet). They "inspected" the transmission and told me everything was fine. Now I need to go through the whole process all over again this year. |

I had that problem a couple years back. It wasn't a worn gear but something else. I don't remember. Ukes did the work, and it took them awhile to find the problem. Everything looked fine inside. Works fine now. It felt like it would pop out of gear then jump back in. Only scary when really twisting the throttle It slowly got worse so I had it fixed. |

Does this Club still exist ? Who's going to the IMS on Friday the 11th!? NN & Bads, any way you can LEAVE with us by 3:00pm? I work all around Norther Illinois and Chicago, and I can tell you if you leave ANY later than that, on A Friday, I don't care what direction you're headed, you'll hit a ton of traffic. Cosmo and I wanted to know cause we want to get there early enough to get some dinner and, hopefully, see stuff before it really crowds up. Hopefully you can, or we can all try to meet somewhere at the show !? We're bringing our son, anyone else bringing their kids ? You're more than welcome to ride with us, but leaving at 4:00 or 4:30 is pushing it as far as turning a 45 minute drive into a 1 &1/2 hour drive. |

We won't be going until Kayla gets out of school..she will be getting out early and going to school late plenty over the next 2 months with getting her dental appliance. Sorry. We will probably leave after the kids are settled after school. We will just have to work "with" the traffic. I don't even know if we are even going to take the kids yet either?? We will leave it up to them. More people to fit in the vehicle then. I think maybe Nancy was thinking of going and maybe Danny as well??? I get to work that Saturday and Sunday sorry Tom. |

Well, I hope you guys don't think we're blowing you off, cause I know we were planning on riding up together, but we're leaving at 3:00pm. I personally don't want to fight anymore traffic than I have to. I'll be working down there, driving home, takin' a quick shower, jumping in the truck and going right back where I came from. Is it possible to meet somewhere down there? Want me to post my cell number? I just don't want to *iss anyone off. I know you guys have other obligations and I don't expect you to change anything. I will now wait for the silence and cold shoulder. Should I plan on doing the bars by myself? |
