The bike was back together today, but they found another "small" problem (see earlier post). Hopefully it won't take more than another week. Great idea, Patrick! Let's start looking at a date in February that several of us can attend! |

Bruce Champion IS number 1.. I've been working with Bruce on several issues. Bruce is the reason why the Tuber Race ECMs are back in existence. And he's now working on the race header shoe that everyone seems to need a replacement for. If there are parts that should not have been discontinued and we can construct a reasonable business case for bringing them back, Bruce works on it (in his spare time, of which he has very little of). He's a very busy guy on the XB front, but he makes time for me to discuss such issues with him. Looks like a fun time, wish I coulda been there! Al |

Hmmm, that photoshop's cool ain't it??? Thanks Blake, I'm still learning about sizing these photos. I was trying to figure out what I did to make Dago mad and then I realized:He just wants his bike to look like mine... Oh, wait a minute, he's going to have the signature version...Curses, outdone again... Chris, I know my new vitamins were strong, but jeez... Kevin Oh, and as for Cameron, now I know why some people are scared of clowns!!! |

I'm man enough to admit that I do have a bad case of faring envy Chris, I'm glad to hear there's finally a light visible at the end of that tunnel. As much as I like your car, the bike's better. A February ride sounds great. I'm already riding down to Austin the weekend of the 18th. Any other time works for me. |

road_thing, it sure was good of you to go up there and pretty up that dfw crowd! all it takes is one houstonian to completely change the complexion of a picture. i sure wish i could have made the trip. maybe another time or a halfway meeting of north and south sometime? looks like a great time. later...philip |

Thanks, Philip. I can definitely change the complexion of a picture, but not necessarily for the better. I'm reminded of Bomber's comment on the subject of home improvement: "I just said I worked on it--I didn't say I improved it!" (or words to that effect) The Dallas get-together would have been better only if you'd showed up on your bike with your daughter on the pillion and about a dozen pies on the luggage rack, like a certain BBQ I remember! We've gotta do that again this spring...maybe some of the D/FW guys could make it down. rt |

RPMChris said: "It's very expensive and time-consuming to drop a bike, isn't it?" Listen to me, Chris, I'm very old and very wise. Dropping a bike is cheap and quick. It's the repairing of metal and flesh that's expensive and time consuming. How's that "new car smell" coming along? rt |

It was great to meet everyone. Good to put a face with the name, since the only picture of me is with clown makeup. The Demo event is coming up soon. It would make a great road trip for all you TEXANS. If you think it was fun having dinner with Erik, just imagine how much fun it would be to RIDE with him. He will be at the event. It will be March 19-20 in the North Georgia Mountains. Some of the best twisties in the south. It is only about an hour to "The Dragon's Tail" (Deal's Gap). I would love for you guys to come over and experience some real southern hospitality. |

Woohoo!!! The bike's fixed (just an internal adjustment needed), and I'm picking it up tomorrow! With the wife heading out of town, it looks like I have the whole weekend to install my accumulated parts cache! |

Dago, If you'd like any info on bada$$ roads 'round Austin, just lemme know. Also, if you can get away Thursday instead of Friday, our Buell (et al) group meets every Thursday eve at Dirty Martin's on Guadalupe and 28th. Hey Dago - I'd love to get that Rizoma rear end from you today (Sunday). The bike's in my living room and all my parts are on! Any chance I could come by? Gimme a call on my cell or at home. |

hey guys, if any of you DFWers roll down to Austin, give a couple of us a heads up, like Bueller said above, Dirty's is a great spot to chill with beer and burgers, and PLENTY of good riding around. I know several of us would thoroughly enjoy having y'all down for some rollin' good times... james |

Have any of you Austin Buellers taken Hwy 1431 from Round Rock to Hwy 29 and viewed the Bald Eagles that are nesting off Hwy 29? What are the good restaurants in Llano? |

Well, I'll be there the weekend of the 18th (weather permitting). My girl is going out of town with her family, so I'm going to hit the Austin blacktops. And if I can ride with some fellow Buellers while there, then all the better I say. Let's try to plan something for the 19th. Thoughts? |

cowtown- i have yet to make a good ride north of town up in that area, i mostly find myself headed west of town out towards Lake Travis and Johnson City, but that could definately change. BTW, were you at the Twisted Texas Brag ride? I remember meeting a few fellows at a little burger shack, one had a 12s w/ the CityX airbox and cut up inner box... that you? Dago- that weekend is fine.. like Bueller said, if at all possible to be here thursday evening for bike night, it'd be worth it... i don't know if or how often the other Austinites watch this thread,it'd be nice to have a common thread for DFW, Austin, and H-town... i wanted to roll up to Dallas last weekend to meet you guys, but working 2 jobs just kept it from happening.. Damn i was jealous when i saw those pics.. |

Whitetrashxb, Yes, I was there and that was my bike. I rode the last half of the Thursday route with a White 9R and Yellow 9S, was that you? An expanded Stormfront for Texans may have some merit. All it takes is the first post. But it sure is a big state. |

hah, yeah, that was me, good to chat w/ ya... i'm considering the thread, at least for a larger 'central tx' area, the Texas Hill Country thread has been pretty inactive lately, and it seems like you guys are posting regularly, so maybe the thread would get a little more exposure.. just a thought.. and while i'm thinking about it, the ROT rally this year is June 2-5... too bad it's the same weekend as the BRAG homecomimg.... |

Repulic of Texas Rally http://rotrally.com/ biggest rally in the state, held in Austin for the past 10 years, i think, it's pretty huge, they line 'em up and parade down on 6th street in downtown, all the way to the capital.. they pretty much take over the town for the weekend, i think something like 10,000 bikes last year... lotsa fun. Check out the website... james |

Cowtown, Yup, I've been out 1431 a few times and through Llano a couple of times. Cooper's Bar B-Q in Llano is pretty famous: http://www.coopersbbq.com/reviews.asp Haven't checked out the Bald Eagles yet, but I just heard they're back again this year. 1431 is slowly being ruined by gawddamn yankee road-straighteners, but there is still some good riding there. Lime Creek and Old Burnet Road both branch off 1431 and are sublime. Don't EVER speed through Jonestown or Cedar Park; the cops there are nazis and lie in wait for motorcyclists. Better, less travelled/patrolled roads lie just South and West of Austin. Come on down and we'll show ya! Got my XB12S back on the road after putting on lots of parts, and taking off a few, too. The new bars, grips, mirrors, and pegs make riding so much more enjoyable; the new frame pucks and axle sliders are for insurance; and the de-snorkled engine seems to pull harder and smoother. And, just for looks, I removed the passenger peg mounting brackets, shortened the front turn signals, and installed a grater-less rear end (Rizoma, Ebay, $90 in the package!). It looks so much better! Now I'm just waiting for a Streetfighter seat from Daves. Next up - Race ECM, K&N, and D&D! (Message edited by rpmchris on February 05, 2005) |
