>When someone says "German motorcycle engine" I think of a BMW flat twin. When someone says "Porsche engine" I think of a pancake-6 engine. Hmmm, Porsche-6 engine in a shaft-drive bike chassis, hmmmm, BossHoss Germanified? Hmmm...like the Valkyrie? Flat 6...shaft drive...100 ft-lb...with truck pipes it has a bit of the Porsche sound when wound out...

Yep, I remembered the Valkyrie as soon as you mentioned it. I'll have to take a test ride on one sometime. How are they on gas consumption? |

My dad has a '97 Valk and I think he gets about 120-140 miles out of a tank. My dad loves his bike! Got rid of his GL1500 GW for it when they came out in 97. That was after owning 3 GW's. Fun bike to ride (the one time he let me!). |

Hi guys, I'm new here and this is my first posting. Cant really figure out this site even after reading the "Getting Started" section. Starting a new thread seems like it's not allowed so I guess I'll just jump into the middle of an existing thread here. I just bought a used 2003 XB9SL last week and I love it! I already have ordered over $2000 in accessories for it so I'll have some stuff for sale soon. Here goes: Is anyone looking to buy a stock exhaust or a new Buell Stage 1 exhaust? The stock exhaust is off a 2003 XB9SL and is in great shape and has about 4500 miles on it. Dunno what its worth, make me an offer. The Buell stage 1 can is brand new (I ordered a stage 1 kit AND a Jardine exhaust at the same time, will be using air filter and ECM from kit with Jardine exhaust). The exhaust is part # 65163-02YB and retails for $359, and the best price I found on line for it at Surdyke was $291. I'll take $250 plus shipping for it. I'll also have the stock shift and brake levers for sale. If anyone wants the low seat I'll also sell that. Make me an offer. I'll also have the stock wheels from this bike available, I ordered the gold ones from the 12 for it. Not sure what they are worth, how about $150 each plus shipping? They are in excellent shape! If that is too high I'll entertain serious offers on those as well. Also, if anyone can tell me someplace online where I can look up Buell OEM part #'s it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Hi Dennis, and welcome. For selling stuff, the classified section would be appropriate , and also ensure that you posting doesn't disappear in the archives. And it's perfectly ok to start new threads there - it's actually required with the new set-up Henrik |

You probably have to register and sign in to access classifieds or start a thread. |

Umm, if I wasn't registered and signed in I wouldn't have been able to post that message and this one, would I? -wink- It does ask me for a user name and password for each message posted so maybe I'm not signed in? You can click on my name and see my profile so I thought I was signed up?? Also, at the top of this screen is a "logout" link. If I wasn't logged in wouldn't it say "login" instead? -confused- OK, I just went to the "classified" section and at the bottom it says "Closed: New threads not accepted on this page" HELP!! If you can get into the classifieds page, then you are logged in. If the classifieds option does not appear in the Main Topics page, go to the top of the page and click Login. Once in Classifieds, you need to go one step further, into the "Parts & Accessories for Sale". There you will find "Post a New Parts and Accessories for Sale Ad". Click that and type away. Henrik |

Dtrain, click here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/board-auth.cgi?file=/21/21.html&lm =1106771336 then here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/board-auth.cgi?lm=1106758572&file= /21/1020.html then at the top of that page click here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/board-auth.cgi?lm=1106758572&file= /21/1020.html You should end up at a page with "The Bad Weather Bikers' BBS » Classifieds » Parts and Accessories for Sale » Start New Thread " at the top of it. Sometimes you have to refresh/reload your browser to see the registered user's only stuff. If not then post back and we'll try again. |

OK guys, I guess maybe I *am* logged in, I just didn't realize I had to go one level deeper on the "classifieds" page. I thought I was seeing thread titles, not sub-folder titles. D'ohhh! No worries, I guess I'll get the hang of this forum eventually, it certainly is a lot different than all the other forums I've been on in the past (a couple of which I am a moderator). I've owned 8 different bikes over the last 6 years so I've spent a lot of time on a lot of forums. LOL! Thanks guys for the welcome and the help. I'm not used to being on the "asking dumb questions" side, I'm usually the one answering them. ROFL! (Message edited by dtrain on January 26, 2005) |

Dtrain, Welcome, this is a great site with lots of information. I'm in Benicia. Working on the bike now. There are a few Bay Area Buellers around, so one day we should put a ride together! |

MikeJ->How are they on gas consumption? Like Kinger's dad, I've got the '97. It's 4.x gal + 1 gal reserve and I hit reserve at 125-145. The longest tank I've had is about 165. Depending on how hard I run it I get anywhere from 28-35 mpg. You don't get great fuel economy when you're feeding 6 thirsty carburetors. I, too, traded in a Wing to buy my Valk (a couple years ago)...and 65K miles later I haven't missed it a bit. If you have a chance to ride the '97, do. Honda claims they didn't change anything after that model year, but every motorcycle rag reported a measurable drop in power on subsequent models. Seat-o-the-pants dyno bears this out. |

Thanks for the welcome guys! newxb9er, yeah we'll have to hook up for a ride one of these days, maybe do Mt. Diablo? That's kinda halfway between us and is a great ride. Which bike did you get, the City-X or an older 9? I got an '03 XB9SL. |

I am closing in on the calendar design BUT I NEED MORE PICTURES I have changed what I need for resolution so send me the best shots you have at the highest resolution you have. For those with high end digital cameras and software the MAXIMUM I need is 300 ppi and a MAXIMUM size of 8 1/2" by 11" (21.6cm x 28cm) For the rest of you send me the highest resolution your camera will provide. Send to calendar@davegess.com If you could make the file name to be your actual name that would be cool also. I will be accepting pictures until Monday January 31st. After that, unless you have one of Erik kissing the Pope, you are out of luck. |

Dtrain.. Yeah, Mt. Diablo is a good ride. Check www.pashnit.com see if there is anything you like on there. The Berkeley hills are good. The ride from San Jose to Livermore through the mountains is a decent ride. I have an '03 XB9R. |

Hey EBear, You're a cutie! I wish you still lived here too! Nope, I can't say I've ever done that ride, but now that you've recommended it I will add it to my list. Where the heck is Marsh Creek and/or Morgan Territories? Never heard of either of them so I hope you don't say they are in Texas or something. heh heh (Message edited by dtrain on January 27, 2005) |
