Any advice if I attempt it?

Ever thinking about buying a new handlebar instead?

Naustin: How does it feel to sit on though? And what about handling? I think it's a huge improvement over the stock look.

I bent the bars 3.5 inches back... I think 4 inches even would have been perfect, but it is pretty good for me right now and I'm not going to bend them any more.

At full lock, there is still almost 2 inches of clearance from hitting the tank as seen in the last of the smaller pictures I put up.

It is a very aggressive position, but it feels pretty good. If you want to get an approximation, get on your bike and grab the turn signals. My bars are almost directly above the stock turn signals.

Truthfully, I haven't been able to ride it any distance, so the only thing I'm going on is sitting on the bike in the garage and a short trip around the block to make sure I had it all back together after I bled the brakes yesterday. (I had to reverse the angled connection on the forward reservoir to keep from crimping the brake line -- and then bleed the brakes of course -- that was a real pain I'm not sure I got 100% of the air out, but it stops....)

Yesterday it was 21 degrees with 45-60mph wind gusts - so I couldn't really take it for a longer ride.

It feels a little cramped with the stock pegs. But I'm planning on the Banke's, and I think it's going to be perfect with those.

The steering is WAY different. It is heavier and quicker... I haven't, as I said before, had a chance to ride it much, so I can't really say more than that about the handling yet.

Naustin: The front brakes are notorious for being difficult to bleed. If you've got any brakes now, the rest of the air will bleed out on its own with riding.Except for a trick I know, I learned its pointless to spend a lot of time bleeding the front.

Thanks. I've got it pretty firm now, so I must have done OK. It was actually the first time I ever bled brakes on anything. Nice to know it has a reputation for being difficult since it was rather a pain in the butt.

The part the sucked was opening and closing the bleed valve after every squeeze of the brake. The hose kept falling off the bung and dripping brake fluid all over me. lol

Go halfway down for the Brymar Dominator Twin headlights. They were very easy to hook up and are very bright.

Nice one, Blaster_S! I like your bug deflector. You pic reminds me to again call Chicago Harley about my Pro Series intake. They still haven't shipped it. Nice handlebars too. Does that mirror work very well?

Great day at the track
Great Day at the track

Into the turn
Into the turn

Had a great time, we had a mock race at the end of the day. We all gridded up and started out on a 4 lap race. I started in the back row with a liter bike and 2 SV650's on the first row. Well the 2 SV's were off and not to be seen by me again. The liter bike was another story, he would pull away on the the straights but I was able to catch up on the back part of the track where there were more turns. Finally on the last lap he swung wide and I was actually able to pass him on the inside. Well for 3 more turns and a short hop to the finish line I was able to stay ahead of him. This poor guy got a lot a flack from the other riders for loosing to the all powerfull Blast.

Overall it was a great day, with the Jardine pipe with the Pro series intake I was actually able to get a little more speed on the straight sections of the track.

LOL - definately a day to remember! How many sets of tires you go through doing trackdays - 1 per day? - just curious.

EZ, I can get about 2 trackdays out of set if I did no other riding. What I will normally do is run a set for 1 trackday then I use them for the street. Good for another 1500 miles of street use. I never have really tried to put more than one track day on a set, the track is really hard on the left hand side of the tire. I just feel better by not using a set of tires for more than 1 trackday. I would really hate to go down and have the bike take the damage because I wanted to save a little over a hundred dollars. Have a great day

Hey All,

I'll have some cool pics for all of you soon. I've started converting my wifes Blast into a FireBlast. I've been wanting to do this since we bought it for her, Sept 03. I have been buying parts off of ebay like its cool and finally collected enough to at least get started. Last night I finished mounting the sub-frame and re-doing the wiring. I still have to mount the foot pegs and get a few more goodies before the rear will be complete.

I do how ever have a question someone here might be able to help me out with.

Q: How do you hook up a tack to a blast? I will be adding the XB gages and would like to also hook up the tach, how would I do this?

I am mechanically inclined but electrically challenged.

Bad news there - the only working tach for the Blast so far is the Westtach unit. If you can figure a way to duplicate the pulse with just a tiny lag in line then the tach would work, however, though a lot of electrical geniuses have said this would be easy to do - none have done it - lol - volunteers would be greatly appreciated, because then any tach for a twin would work on a Blast!
