Whoa! What is going on here???!!! LOL!! "Blake read my lips where did I say Sponsorship." Maybe I misunderstood you Dana. If so I humbly beg your pardon. In my defense, please not that your post was a bit hard to follow, and your statement of "get the team or teams the money at a Brag event and then? kick off of the first Daytona start in history for Buell??" left me thinking that you wanted to distribute funds prior to the race, which would constitute sponsorship. Your on your own.I'll put my money else where." I'm on my own? Everyone else is abandoning the idea? Apparently you missed the smily face and my lighthearted comment? <sigh> That was quite a turn around. LOL! From "Blake I plan on contributing that is for sure." to the above in successive posts? |

Naysayers please take a hike. Yes, I removed your posts that I deemed subversive towards this effort. If you want to participate in the group effort, you are WELCOME as are your suggestions! If not, please do not post in this thread. Thank you. |

Buells have run at Daytona before plenty of time. I saw them run there in 2001. Pro-Thunder was an AMAPR class at that time from something like 1998 thru 2002 or something close to that, please don't quote me on the exact timetable. |

No Buells have not run Daytona ever in FX against the likes of Team Honda Blake and never as the Spot light race that Superbike is no longer in that spot.I'm not a nay sayer.Respect me I'll respect you.Talk to me and treat me like you would like to be treated and maybe I wouldn't come across to you this way.And I'll still buy those shirts for support and contribute here as long as we can seem to understand one another. |

"as long as we can seem to understand one another." Therein lies the key. First Daytona 200 start, yes, I see what you are saying now. I agree, it is a momentous occasion. |

Seems we have 3 choices. Contingency money at every race, a smaller payout each time but maore people might get a bit. Money at one or two or three events biger payout, less exposure for badweb(maybe more exposure at one place, if we pay 5000-10000 bucks at RA or Daytona we might get a bunch of track attention, program mention, PA mentions etc., less people get a piece Money for total points scored over course of season. One payout at the end. covers the whole season, many people get a shot at it, maybe more exposure for badweb. Am i correct on the three options? I vote for number 3 It is Blakes call but I bet he will count everyones opinion on this. I'm still in for 100 Dave |

That is about it Dave. Good summary. The one drawback to putting the contingency towards the season points totals is that we then are doing little to help out the teams/riders during the season. I only mention that because it was the impetus that spurred me to raise this idea in the first place. We could do both. We need more money though. |

Quite the conundrum. I too am in favor of option 3, but without the $$ early, the Buells might not fair as well in the season. So I guess bigger payouts at a few races sounds best. The big payout is sure to attract attn for the board as well... |

I'm still in Blake! Just like to give the teams a boost at Daytona and show em we are behind them. $$$ sure helps the racers and this is a special race for Buell being in the "big" show. I'll be there! So lets work this out and continue to raise funds TOGETHER so the Buell motorcycle we all share on this site can show its potential. |

Davegess, Blake, I think we could actually pull off a combination. Blake and I had mentioned a 'sliding scale' approach to the contingency. Now, if we calculated say a 'top three' pay out, with funds (yes, I know I'm speculating on the amount of money available) available for a 1,2,3 podium finish (It could happen!) Then pay out according to actual finish. Monies not paid out during the season for each race could form the 'highest points' award at the end of the season. Does that all make sense? Or am I not describing it correctly? Later, |

We need a minimum of $6,500 in order to make it a go for an AMA contingency. Almost there. Where are all Buell enthusiasts? |

if we went with Option 3 as stated above, the payout may not benefit the current season, but wouldn't it also allow Badweb more time to possibly raise more cash throughout the season? Then the winner would have more $$$ to put toward the NEXT season. Just thinking long term benefits down the road, hoping the teams will be there in future seasons to compete.... the 'sliding scale' sounds like a good idea as well, and ultimately it makes no difference to me, just glad to be a part of it thanks, james |

What about contingency for ONLY Daytona? That way we could get the money to the teams quickly and we get to be on the bikes at the big event? It seems that the teams running Daytona are the ones that would be interested in going the distance... How many Buells will be at Daytona? 2 or 3? |

Blake... You said we need a minimum of $6500 for the AMA. Does that mean that if we come up with $6600 we only have $100 that will go to the teams or does the AMA take a small percentage? |

We need $6500 because there's a $1500 fee and we want at least $5000 to pay out? |

Josh is too astute. We need to guarantee award funding of at least $500/race x 10 races is $5,000 plus $1,500 for administration fee. You caught me; yes I am being ultra conservative wrt the raffle of the event passes. I suppose we could go green with $5,000 and hope to make the $1,500 through the raffles/auctions and/or ongoing fundraising. I just ordered my Daytona tickets. |

Here is a contingnecy that Triumph has set up. "The Thruxton Challenge is sure to inspire competitors and spectators alike. Triumph Motorcycles will be offering a special rebate program for series competitors. AHRMA license holders purchasing a new Thruxton 900 for this race series will receive an $800 rebate directly from Triumph. Triumph and AHRMA also have joined forces to post a $4,500 points fund for the 2005 season. The series champion will earn a check for $2,000, while the second-place finisher will receive $1,000; third, $750; fourth, $500 and fifth, $250. A rider must compete in at least two rounds to qualify for the prize fund, and your best 10 finishes will count. The payout will occur at the 2005 Roadrace Awards Banquet during next year’s Florida Bike Week." More details here; http://www.ahrma.org/thruxton_challenge.htm |

"Not to be picky but my last name is DINE" Well if we are going for spelling, change my first name to Don. Is there any planned time the collection of donations will start? Is there a wait for the $6500 to be pledged first or are we going to start and build as time goes? |

So.. Since there hasn't been any additional postings here.. does this mean our "BadWeb Contingency" fund has died a quiet death? Or is there still some life in it after all? I know there are more of us out there.. And I know they would love to see more Buells Racing.. Sooo.. Let's pony up folks.. We still need a little more of the green to meet our goal! Isn't there anyone else that wants to make this happen? Ok, I'll stop begging.. for now.. Later, |

There has been more activity on this over on The Dark Side of the board. Blake??? DasBuell put a motion on the table last night, and Gail's American Heartland Club (listed as KCBRAG in the table above) confirmed their commitment of $100 if this program goes ahead. Where are the other BRAG clubs? SLAP... PLOP (sound of gauntlet hitting floor} |

Well - our BRAG Club is scrounging up their coins to support our local BRAG racers. Kinda hard to ask them to pony-up more $$ when there are already 7 of us racing this year out of the Glendale BRAG chapter. That said, I'm still in for $100 |
