Dave is correct, the race ECM is being resurrected, and the data I've received indicates that the previous price will still apply, and a bunch have already been built and received at Buell. Just needs to get into the distribution channel now. I've been talking to the factory about resurrecting this part for a while on behalf of the folks that call me looking for one, and the folks here that have indicated their displeasure with it's discontinuation. There obviously has to be a business case for such things, but the business case is not entirely based on the profits from the individual sales of such items. There is a need to maintain the perception that buyers of Buell motorcycles will be supported for the long run, as this can impact new motorcycle sales. Buell understands this and they are listening to us. This hardly means that every discontinued tuber part will become available. But Buell is listening, and they are trying to do a good job of balancing the ongoing development needs while supporting the past. The race ECM was clearly a bad choice for discontinuing, and they now recognize that and are correcting the mistake. I'm talking to them about the currently unavailable race header shoe (S1121.G) now. If Buell doesn't resurrect it, I will. Al | ||

More of a "slipper" really. =) I've been hoarding these things for a while now. It's part of the factory race header/muffler. They don't look too difficult to make, but I'm too lazy! | ||

That is truly great news about Buell having a new run of Race ECM's made for the Tubers. Dang, that thing is the Heart of our engines. Still, I am glad I bought a spare from DaveS back when they announced they were to be discontinued. Now, I am even more happy for my fellow Bueller's that needed one. Thank you Erik!!! | ||

The clamps are easy, any NAPA can get them, or you can use the heavier duty ones that Blake has posted here in the past. They are called "T-Bolt clamps". A bunch of different manufacturers make them, but Buell has typically used the 5 star brand. Clampco is another good vendor for them. But if you go into any NAPA store and ask to see their muffler clamp catalog, you'll find them in a variety of sizes. But the stainless shoe/slipper/suport piece comes only from Buell, but isn't currently available (yet). Bruce is looking into it. Al (Message edited by al_lighton on November 17, 2004) | ||

Got MY ECM yesterday!! Thank you Dave! You rock! New GUY! I just passed 500 miles on my 02 S3T. I found one with 6 miles on it at my local HD dealer on 12/15/04! Marry Xmas to me. Where should I post my dumb new guy questions? Keith |
