Which is the better exhaust. I'm buying a S1 with a Buell Race Exhaust on it. I like the sound of the Force exhaust and was wondering if it would be worth it to switch the race exhaust for a force exhaust. Any thoughts? How do they compare? Thanks, Hodakaguy |

The Buell race exhaust gives good power. Wait until it falls apart and then switch. |

Usually the Force falls apart first! |

What's to fall apart on the Buell 'race' exhaust? |

They usually break right at the muffler inlet. That's where mine broke. |

Ditto. 3 times. You want the best exhaust ever made for pre-99 Buells get a West Tek. Out of production but American Sport Bike may have one leftover. |

Use the Force Luke!!! With the new mounting system Johnny Lightning came up with, they don't break! (Message edited by careyj on December 04, 2004) |

Interesting. I'v had the same race muffler on a '98S1W and now on the '96S2 and it hasn't cracked or broken...I had a 'race' header fracture for about 3/8" along the collector weld on the S1W. Hard to weigh industrial economy against applied technology. On a side note; this past spring I was participating in an Experienced Rider MSF class and lo and behold, another rider shows up on a duc like mine...same year, model, color and same FBF badged exhaust. His CF was all wrinkled and twisted and wavy, the welds were uneven and the clear coat on the CF was heavy and looked like syrup poured over the CF. Obviously two different manufacturers for the exhaust cans...the exhaust notes were markedly different also. |

My KT Pipe is still holding up just fine, 20,000+ hard miles. |

'Guy; Be advised; the Force pipe makes lots of ponies...but even with the "street baffle" in it, it is WAY loud. It's a matter of personal taste, of course, but I'd find somebody with one I could check out/listen to before I'd install it on my bike. My brother still has one swinging from his garage rafters...the neighbors were getting pissed and it was uncomfortable to ride for more than a hour. It was also uncomfortable to ride trail with him; you could fell the shock waves from the exhaust! This is NOT a put-down of the system, just something to consider. |

I've got the race header with a 4" SuperTrapp universal. The muffler is indestructable. The header has cracked twice in around 17,000 miles. The bike is a S1 with lightning heads...totally stock except for a cheasy S&S aircleaner with K&N, the exhaust, and a Thunderslide kit...makes 84 hp and 83 ft-lbs and has an awesome sound. Best part is you can mess with endcaps and play with the torque curve/sound. Good fun. |

I'm running a Vance and Hines slip-on and I have never had an issue. The only thing that I have had issues with is missing bolts. They vibrate out...I guess I need a little lock-tight or I should check them every once in a while. I have been wanting to put a full Force system on my S3T for some time now. Thanks for the info on the sound! Sounds good to me though! I'm all for it! |
