Hi. I'm seriously thinking of buying a jardine alloy can. They're cheap (well, they're the cheapest can over here UK£259 - $490), and they probably don't rust like the standard one I have at the mo....but that's another story. What are they like? Any good? I probably won't get the Race ECM (not for the relatively small BHP increase - I'm not unhappy with the power - just the sound!). Your thoughts would be appreciated. | ||

 Love it love it love it! I don't have the race ecm but will probably spring for a Techlusion soon. It runs like a scalded dog but pops and crackles a bunch on deceleration (which I have to admit I kinda like!  ). I've read the Techlusion takes most of that away and really smooths out the power delivery. I'm extremely happy with the sound. Definite improvement over stock, a little louder then the race pipe and Drummer, but less then the D&D. | ||

Luke, use the force. Thanks Mr! I bought the pipe. Even with the shipping it's way cheaper (£100 with the UK postage I think). I'm very chuffed, I hope it comes soon! Thanks again, good tip. Just hope the customs men don't add a zillion ££ on in the UK, they're a bit cr@p like that. | ||

Hey, Tucson, I'm not being a pedant but you have the Jardine and you almost poo poo'd it on this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/47435.html?1081949840 I guess you were just worried about the rivets. I'm also guessing none of yours have fallen out (the Jardine's I mean!) else you would have said. Anyway, your bike looks way harder than my CityX and I can't yet figure out why. I think it's just the black, but maybe I need some of them cool bar end mirrors! Thanks for the feedback guys! | ||

nick......ive currently got the buell race pipe on my 9's..... but have a jardine sitting in the garage waiting to be fitted,now im le to believe the jardine is a bit louder than the race pipe,as its a non baffled perforated tube type silencer.... you can look straight through from one end to the other,unlike the buell pipe,good deal on yours as i paid £250 for mine here in the uk,make sure yours will come with the later type chin fairing brackets,although from what ive heard of jardines customer service that might not be a problem | ||

Nick, Make sure you have the newer chin fairing mounts or they may crack and let the fairing touch down on the pavement. The new style bracket attach to the front exhaust mount on the right and to the primary case on the left. They are basically just modified earlier steel brackets and last I saw were powdercoated black. Also pay attention to detail on the oil line routing. It is tight with the smaller line and you want to keep it away from the bracket so that it doesn't get a hole in it from chafing on the bracket when the suspension compresses. Overall I really like the pipe. It gives more on the mid to high end with some loss down low. Sound great especially at idle. It is pretty loud though. The quiet insert really kills power along with the sound and is a real pain to remove. My only complaint now is that the band is a little oversize and stuff gets between it and the can and wears on the can. Vibration will be different (no as buzzy but a little higher amplitude which I find easier to tolerate). The best part is the bike handles better and is more flickable with the weight loss (13.75 lbs under stock with the Ti can on an XB12). Oh, be sure the left chin fairing bracket is not too close to the bottom of you oil filter or you will spring a leak like mine did (the new bracket should prevent this as well). xbolt12 | ||

Yup Nick you're right...I had my reservations. But if you look at the date of the thread it was back in April. Since then I met a few people with the Jardine and their biggest problem was with the chin fairing mounts. Since then, Jardine has switched to a much beefier set up and no more failures (knock on wood). Seven months after my initial suspicions of the Jardine have led me to believe it is a great bargain in perfomance and sound (I put my pipe on in October).The fact is I got a quality pipe and a rear tire for the same price as some of the competition! I still love mine. The quiet module insert is pretty cool too. The module slips into the end of the pipe outlet and attaches via a allen bolt. It cuts the sound way down when you need the bike quiet (still louder than stock though). Of course, it cuts power as it is restrictive, but the cool thing is that you can take it back out. It's like two pipes in one. | ||

Captain, I looked at your profile to get a better look at your bike, and I noticed we are practically neighbors. I have not seen any other Buells here in this area. I know there are some around, I just haven't seen them. Good to know there are others. BTW, I'm in south Austin. Maybe see you around. I, too, have been considering a new pipe. I have the race pipe now, but believe it or not, I want something a little louder. Maybe the Jardine since the price is right. | ||

Duece, There is a buell group in Austin. I've yet to have a chance to meet up with them. They put on a thrills in the hills ride that goes out toward Leakey. If you haven't been out to ride fm336 and fm337 your missing out. I used to live in South Austin off Slaughter. I moved out to Spicewood this summer. Now my ride in the hill country is right outside my front door. If you see me around, flag me down. | ||

I will definitely do that. I have only recently bought a Buell. My wife has a Ducati 750 Monster and i have a Norton Mercury, but both have been down until recently so I haven't been able to get out toward Leakey. I will soon. I have also heard that the area around Garner State Park is really cool. My wife and I ride out to Wimberly often to have lunch, etc. on the weekends. Hope to see you around. |
