You can make your own pipes, all you need is a good pipe cutter & a welder & know how to use them. Most auto muffler shops dont specialize in custom bends, they have books that layout the exact bends required, there is no thinking involved. A custom Buell exhaust would probably give them a coronary. |

If you can find a shop that has a mandrel bender. A hot rod shop might have one. I know a shop in Concord Ca. that has one and the will bend a set of pipes. But they need the bike there. Ask around for a shop with a mandrel pipe bender. Or you can do the cut and weld idea if you buy some bends. |

You'll be hard pressed to find someone capable of thinking in the three dimensions necessary to..., well, you get my drift don't you? |

I am not sure if you are familiar with the trade-off of straight pipes. I ran hooker variable exhaust on a harley and the settings were torque-restricted, or H.P.- open. The ride was different. Back pressure =torque, none =top end H.P. |

Cruzer, You can buy make your own kits with bent pieces of pipe that you weld together, which may be what your lookin for. Bay, If engineered right there is not a big diffence between that KT pipe an a stock pipe with a slip on other than noise, Had a stock pipe an IDS slip on made 84HP on the dyno tuned in WIth that KT I ran 91 on the dyno only with a slight drop of low end at 2200RPM which is no where I ride or probalyy anyone on this board. Main factors in the KT pipe that make it a HP monster... Smaller diameter head pipes to increase gas velocity. Large collector to increase backpreasure. and the most important A longer rear pipe than front which is a must on these twins! |

Could always add a set of torque cones. I know Aaron has done dyno runs that didnt show any appreciable gains, but I have a set in my Khrome Werks drags & you can definitely feel a difference between those & another set thats the same size only without the torque cones. |

yeah but what happend was my old muffler actually got screwd up really bad and i couldnt ride with it anymore because i went down at a trackday and it dented it so it had a air restriction. so right now im just running it wide open and someone told me to run a longer pipe off of it and it will quiet it down just a lil bit. but i do like the sound of it. also does anyone else have a picture of there str8 pipes on a buell? but yeah man theres a hotrod guy down here but hes a and wont mandral bend a small 1 1/2 foot pipe for me to put on my bike. so can i actually go to any regular car shop and have them bend me a pipe and also how big does the inlet have to be to slide onto the header? |

You could always just hang a cherry-bomb in place of the original muffler. It shouldn't be too hard to engineer a suitable fixing system. (just don't tell Blake I used the E word without authorisation ) put a deflector tip on the end & you have have a cheap usable solution. I'd be interested to see power curves before & after too. I was going to do that on my M2 but here in France they're very hot on noise polution, I even had to take off my G Force race can because it was non-approved. |

ya i was also thinking about the cherry bomb thing but do you think it would make it sound like crap or not. i was really looking into that and i know exactly wut u mean with the whole cherry bomb thing. just get one with a curved out exit tube. yeah ill actually try that though and see what happens. ill let you guys know when i dyno it and how it went. also ill post up some dyno charts. |

If you used the existing primary pipes, there's no reason why a good muffler shop shouldn't be able to fabricate you a neat system. I've been to some pretty good shops in the past and had very good custom systems built for my cars. Something as simple as mandrel bending one radius in a pipe and prepping the ends is well within the capabilities of almost any shop. It's the mounting brackets that I'd be most concerned with. |

I used the top muffler in the picture for over 20k. While I never had the bike dynoed, it ran well. Sound was deeper, but not loud. Last summer, I had a trial one made with a 12 inch muffler instead of 18. After a couple of short rides, I removed it. It was too loud for me. |

The pipe works over the rpm range where it manages to get a negative pressure wave timed to arrive at the chamber during overlap. That's the dominant effect. Sticking a baffle in a pipe alters and diffuses that wave timing and on an open, undiffused system, that tends to broaden the powerband as well as move the timing such that it works at lower rpm. BUT ... it has a bad side effect in the form of back pressure, which causes pumping losses. If you can move the wave timing without inducing back pressure, it'll work better. And that can be done, the pipe just has to be designed that way. Hell, look at a dyno chart from a Force system and how it behaves on the XB. That's an essentially zero back pressure system and it makes mountains of power down low (I refuse to use "torque" as a synonym, it's wrong). Wave timing and diffusion is the key. |

For what it's worth, My KT added a shite load to the midrange power with a slight increase in top-end to a mostly stock lightning head M2 motor. No other changes to the motor other than swaping a Borla out for a KT. I was so impressed with the curve I left the KT on the bike. Not sure if I still have the chart for my original testing, but if I can find it I'll post it. |

so gundog r those glasspacks cuz im trying to look for something that is a lil bit louder and deeper but not to loud and to deep. if there not glasspacks please let me know were i can get them from because i can get glass packs down the street from my house for like 10 or 15 bucks. so please let me know thanx much bye. also do you have any pix of them being on the bike. also are those bends made by a manderal bender or no. or are they just a regular bend from a exhuast shop? |
